I have just received the same kinds of e-mails from a guy that said he wanted to buy my scooter I had posted on Kijiji for sale. He said he was out of the country right now and wanted it shipped. After an e-mail asking for more pics he said he wanted to pay by Paypal. I requested an Interac e-mail transfer but he insisted on Paypal. Then when I said ok he sent a note saying he wanted me to pay the shipper as he was 8 hours away from the nearest moneygram site. I said ok to that and he quickly sent the money... The guy used 2 different e-mail address the first one was for the initial contact: Michael at [email protected] and the rest were from:Michael Burke [mailto:[email protected] They seemed suspicious to me so I Googled the Haulage Exchange and found your site and posts about this scam and then I checked my Paypal account and found there was no funds in it and no transfers had been made! Thank you for alerting people about this scam it saved me great a lot of financial hardship! Here are some of the e-mails I received:

I'm glad you avoided being scammed.

Just so you realize, he didn't actually send any money at all. He never did anything through paypal, and probably doesn't even have a paypal account.

All he did was send you fake emails that were supposedly from paypal.
Paypal does not get in the middle of transactions. They do not withhold money pending shipping or payment of someone else, and it is not something they are going to do either.

In adition, Moneygram and Western Union are companies that compete with Paypal. Like Paypal, they collect a fee for the money transfer. If you send the money through one of those services, they will get the fee instead of Paypal. Paypal is not going help another company take away their business!

I have also just received an odd email from Jenny Gray for a listing on www.Gumtree.com.au - Looks like they want to send a fake payment email and hopefully i will send the goods

the email address is : [email protected]

I sent the invoice through paypal but then searched this email address in google and this came up - lucky

>>>>> I am very keen. wish i could come for viewing and inspection as am currently out of the country ATM and i want it picked up before i get back, though i will be back in couple of weeks. I would like to pay you using paypal due to my inability to make a bank deposit which is safer for me. Kindly send me a paypal payment invoice or create an account with paypal on www.paypal.com.au if you dont have one. I will make a solid pick up arrangement with my transport agent who will be coming over for pick up once you receive full payment into your paypal account. Have a nice day. Few more photos will be appreciated as well.

Jenny's writing style is that of a West African. If she sends you a PayPal email that says you have to submit a tracking number or an MTCN before you get the money, it's fake.
