My mum is being scammed by" American general" in Ghana

Hi everyone,

I had a long talk with my mum yesterday and she took it all pretty well I must say.
Ofcourse it was a shock, but then she started thinking back and summing up all the weird stuff.
Like when he was on the phone with her, she would say your voice it sounds so different from the kind of guy you look like in the picture, so picture and voice were a weird combination.
Also he spoke real slow on the phone, a bit weird.

Then since a week or three he stopped contact. This she just told me, she says she was too proud to tell me....
She did hear from his "daughter" Hershey that she is soo worried about her "daddy".

So my mum said, she believes she won't hear from him again. But I told her maybe he is preparing for another scam. She assured me that she has never given him any money.

She has told him that I was suspicious of the situation. And she did send him several pics of me and the my children
I don't know if I have to worry about that....

She is afraid to tell my uncle, because he gets real mad whenever anyone brings up the subject. His own daughter, my niece, already came up with the pictures being in fact of Raven Riley....

So we will see about that....
Most important for me was my mum and I hope she will find another love but not through the internet!
She still wants to move to Holland to be closer to family and maybe it will be easier for her to find a partner in her own language.

Another question she feels this urge to tell the real Bill.....? Has anyone informed him yet ?

Thank-you for reporting back in. We've all been eagerly awaiting the good news! I'm so glad to hear that your Mum is now on the right track. I know that you're going miss her living close by, but at least you know that she is no longer under the scammer's control. I hope that your uncle also soon comes to realize the truth about his "girlfriend".

What a relief! I guess a lot of people are glad it ended well.

I don't want to spoil the good feeling, but I feel I need to add a warning:
The scammer might have saved your mother's address for further use, or he might have passed it on to other criminals. Your mother will have to be careful in the future - she might get scam mail of a different type, for instance lotto jackpots, loan scams, fake charities, pets looking for a new owner.

Any time your mother gets a strange mail she should not hesitate to ask for help.

I think my mum was a bit more emotional today then yesterday and the reality is hitting her slowly.
It's probably a long process, it must be like a sort of mourning. She ofcourse gave her heart to him and her trust.

If you mean the Babatunde-person, he is an innocent third party, he is just a random Nigerian IT guy and not the scammer.
The only piece of information that you get from an IP is the country and at most, the city of origin.

My daughter of 4 is so upset that she's leaving, she loves her grandmother so much. Plus she is not over the fact that her grandfather, my dad, passed away last year, she still sleeps with his favorite shirt every night.

Hi my friend! Sorry I have not responded until now, I have been on the job and come home for a little while ago. I myself am a grandmother to a little girl who turns four in September and she is the angel and the light in my life. I can understand your little girl that she will miss her Grandmother. I have my little angel only 20 minutes walk from where I live, but still have time so I hardly see her because I work full time, so when she usually stay with us, they weekends that I am free. I've been thinking about you so much and so want to know how your mother feels after all that has happened to her. I understand that she has much to do before she will be moving, but I can not wait to hear from her. And yes, I was so sure I had found my scammer, but it seemed not. I've written a lot of Bubbles and is well my thoughts on that I know who he is to name and it is a person I have sent money to Nigeria.
