I am sorry you have lost money to this scammer akoastac.

As Ralph said,

It is much better to have scammers using details that are listed on dating sites, many victims are saved by doing a few searches if they find anything suspicious and then finding our postings.

I realise your frustration, but by keeping the account open we actually help more people.

I have already received those contacts immediately after I have sent money.

"International Payment Monitoring Agency, Director, Steve Lar". Refer to the link I have updated in the other scamming report site. I also have played around with him even after I have noticed he is a scammer to get more proof and people who he work with. But in the mean while, I have asked singaporeexpats to monitor his profile and notify the contacts he had through the website.

At least, I think I did the right thing as I know someone who contacted me she almost sent money to him, and I could warn her he is a scammer.

If you go in to the link I have created, I have much more details of his contacts, his profiles, whom he work with. BTW, his phone number still is the same but he shuts down all the nigerian number immediately after he receives the money.

You have indeed done a good thing in this case and prevented somebody else from being scammed so well done,

For the record, I dont discourage people from having their accounts closed either, it can work either way.

You can see what I have previously said about this subject here http://www.romancescam.com/forum/viewto ... 607#p63607
I understand how frustrating it is when you try to convince websites about a fraudulent member of their site, have you ever dealt with ebay in regards to scammers, I would sooner extract my own teeth than to attempt that again.

Anyway, to your question, some dating sites are very proactive in dealing with scammers and do a reasonable job of keeping their sites clear of scammers but no dating site is completely free of them.

I know it is of little consolation that the scammers profile is still there but realistically it wouldn't make that much difference either way, it is very likley the same scammer has several profiles on that site and many more on other dating sites, having one of those profiles removed is simple an inconvenience and a minor one at that, it happens all the time to them so they are prepared for and like roaches coming back after the pest man has been they simply create a new profile using details they have saved and ready to go, it would take them less than 5 minutes to be on their way again.

The problem with that from our point of view is that while you have wasted 5 minutes of his time, you have removed one more piece of information about the scammer that a potential victim may find if they were to begin searching

Its a fine line when it comes to getting profiles closed as to if it does more good than harm and most of the scam advisors I know are a little undecided on the issue and generally agree to niether encourage or discourage the practice of having them closed.

I guess the point is, if you want to try and get it closed feel free, you wont really be doing any harm to our cause and you will inconvenience the scammer a little, there is even a very slight chance that a potential victim realises the person is a scammer because of it, but dont lose sleep over the dating sites inability to delete the profile.

If anything, leaving a comment on the profile as most sites will allow, saying it is a scammer would be much more productive anyway

Great work on posting the additional information, whether here or Romancescam, having it publicly posted does save people from being scammed, please be sure to post only scammer details and not your own.

If you do have any questions, please feel free to ask

Meanwhile I will look into these new details

Hi,

Just to let you know, I know kind of know a few people work with Alex or Alex himself. Michael Cole is one of the key person as this is the one who receives the money. I know there is one scam report in romancescam.com and the victim says she was scammed by "Michael" who has a friend "Alex". The story that Michael setup is really different but somewhat it looks similar when he starts saying he is always short of little money to get out of the situation. I am trying to find of if there is any connection to those two cases.

In addition, I have received lots of mails when I have sent money to Alex. And those seem very fishy to me as they are not from the country I live and I think those are scammers, too but I don't have any evidence to report to the expats website. If you want to play around with those guys to find the evidence, please do so. I think they are linked as they immediately contacted me after me getting involved in Alex's scam.

It is now obviouse he works in team and I believe those people are also the members of his team.

I am sure you would have seen the evidence I posted in regards to this scammer [email protected] at Romance scam.

We have also investigated Albery dave, he seems a little shy at the momemnt but we do have acces to his IP which can be used to see the chances of them all being from the same place.
