Keep 'em rolling in captaincarlo. In these tough times no one can afford to lose money to these moronic scammers and the more people know what to look for and how to seek them out, the less successful they'll be.

i want a perfect weeding venue

They'd love my back garden then. :=)

Welcome to Scamwarners. Love your username!
This particular scam involves a fake payment, usually with stolen credit card details rather than a fake check.
The scammer then sends a partial cancellation and asks for a refund by Western Union or Moneygram.

I received this, too. I strung the guy along until he gave me the credit card number and the card address. I found the true owner thanks to Whitepages.com, notified her, and she will shut down the card. I sent the scammer a final reply:

“William,”

Thank you so much for the complete information on the credit card. As a result, I’ve been able to track down the TRUE owner of the card, and advise them that it was being used fraudulently. The card has been disabled, so you will be unable to make any unauthorized purchases on the card.

I am so pleased to be able to thwart such nefarious behavior, and hope that, at some point, you will be caught and punished for your scam.

I can only hope that others do as I did, and perform a search when they are the recipients of such an obvious scam: it’s a famous one. See: viewtopic.php?f=26&p=39773

Welcome Motobroad,

I'm glad the information here helped you to avoid being scammed.

I can also understand why you sent the email you did; however, we do not recommend baiting scammers who have your real information (you can see our sister site 419eater.com for more information on baiting safely). We also don't encourage pointing scammers to their listings here, as it does more harm than good. Now that this scammer realizes that googling his name leads here, he will change the name and/or email address he uses, and the next victim he approaches may google his new name, but will not find him. This increases the odds that the next person will become a victim.

Hello everyone. I am a Yoga teacher and received a request for Yoga classes by a group that was visiting my country. I finished composing the email to respond to this guy when my intuition told me to do a little background check on him. I tried facebook and nothing showed up, so I tried google and found out about the Joe Cross scam. Thank God, for it saved me a lot of work plus the possibility of unknowingly helping this criminals. I'm attaching the email as I received it so you can have a reference. As I can see it is a new modality of the same scam. The "we need yoga during our vacation" version.
Thank you all for this site and the important information it provides. And thank God for Google!! :D

Hello,
I'll be in the country with my friends for a one month vacation. During our stay, we want to book for 18 sessions of yoga training for 1Hour each day, from the 4th of December (morning or Evening hours) with the exception of
Sundays, for 7 persons. As part of our plans to keep fit during the vac, we need Private group training.

Do you have a training studio/facility where you conduct the classes? What Forms of Yoga Program do you teach best?

Welcome to ScamWarners Gurusansar Singh. It is great to hear that our information saved you from becoming a victim.

The scammer would have scheduled some time with you, sent you a check for the time. The check would be over your normal fee, then they would cancel the appointment and ask you to send the overage to him. Then you would be out the money you sent back to them.

Be safe.
