Nigerian Facebook scammer experience (US army scam)

My mom is new on FB and recently just bought Black berry... so she really almost doesnt know anything about the dark side of internet.

The story begun few weeks ago when some stranger ask her to become his step-mother for his daughter in singapore that live with his grandmother age 80. His wife dead in car accident two years ago....

He says he will pay over 50 grand if my mother take care of his daughter. his claim his name is Moose kingston which 'coincidence with name of some animal....

(the scammer only had 15 friends while other 100-1000, clearly shows who is the real person.)


I started to get suspicious because he tell my mother not to tell anybody because he is in army and not allowed to send his indentity. After few exchange and some irregularity finally the evidence start to pilling up. (never sent any file in email, always on FB or chatting). To a point where my mom booking a ticket to singapore to meet his 'daughter'. This is the most dangerous part because i really dont know what this F**** planning.

Finally after i convince my mother to force him to send email, i got what i want. The scammer email!

I trace his email which he say 'emailed from kabul afghanistan' Here the real IP.

his damning evidence is a ticket of flight KLM from Afghanistan kabul TO Singapore!! Can you believe that?


Even after pilling evidence my mom still cant believe me, 'it MUST be REAL!' she says... finaly after final confirmation with KLM my mom convinced 10 day of chatting with him is fake.


The scammer is still active in his FB, and just added new victim last time i saw it.... can scamwarners do something about his FB? I already reported it, but until now i still dont know how long FB will react.

If anyone creative enough maybe he can pretend to be fall to be his victim and blow his cover...

Welcome to Scamwarners.
It certainly has several typical scam elements, Afghanistan, car crash, odd name (typical of those invented by West African scammers). And the fake plane ticket makes it certain. No request for money which doesn't mean much as romance scammers often take time grooming victims first.
Victims travelling to meet scammers have been kidnapped, even murdered. It's very rare and doesn't seem to be the case here, but on no account should your mother travel to meet him.
Yahoo is based in Sunnyvale, so either you've misread the email headers, or Yahoo removes the sender's IP address. Some email providers do this, but I didn't think Yahoo was one of them

Yes, she certainly has a scammer here.
It always amazes me, the number of scammers who claim to be non-Americans serving in the US Army.


Rules of the US military--all branches!
In order to join the US Military, you must either be a US citizen, or you must be a legal permanent immigrant, physically living in the United States, with a green card. The US military cannot and will not assist with the immigration process. If you are not a US citizen, you must legally and permanently immigrate to the United States first, via the regular immigration procedures and quotas, establish a residence, and then (if you meet the other qualifying criteria), visit a military recruiter's office and apply for enlistment.

In other words, he cannot be a Belgian in the US Army!!

Re: yahoo and IP's--
Yahoo typically does include originating IP's. However, there is one protocol, which is not well understood (and Yahoo has published no information about it), called NNFMP, that we see from time to time. NNFMP is often (not always) associated with spammers or scammers, and when you see those letters in the protocol, it is likely you will NOT find an originating IP, only yahoo's headquarters as you see here.

BTW, I looked at the facebook page, and without doing any in-depth research (just clicking on friend profiles and looking at them), I can tell you that
-his friend Jimmy Alex is a fake profile. The writing is distinctly African, and the clueless scammer is using photos of two different men.
-his friend Macson Johnny is also fake. I recognized the photo immediately, as that is a photo of a Hawaiian model on focushawaii.com that is frequently used by scammers.
-Macson Johnny immediately leads me to ANOTHER fake profile, Simon Lewis (one of the Macson friends)--the scammer stuck a photo on that profile with a uniform with a name tag and it is not Simon or Lewis!!!

Normally a scammer only wants to steal a victim's money and romance scammers will invest time to make sure their victims are well hooked. Dangerously, romance scammers know that they can achieve more than just stealing all a person's money when a bond has been established between them, and that's why it's ominous that he wanted your mum to travel to Singapore. Though it would unlikely to be his initial plan to kill her, she wouldn't be safe in the hands of a criminal and her safety would depend on her total compliance.

I'd bet that that's where this scammer is located and finding innocent drug mules is one of their specialities, because the risks and jail sentences are all left with the drug mules - even going as far as the death sentence.

If she had travelled to Singapore she would have been met by one of his local girlfriends. It's how they work and it's why the Singapore police have taken part in the interview. There have been a lot of victims and local girls are probably too wise to take the risks now, but a trusting person unaware of what's going on would be ideal.

THE SCAMMER CALL MY MOM BACK, THREATENING TO CALL HIS 'HQ' BECAUSE ACCUSING HIM AS SCAMMER! HE SAYS HE WILL SPOIL ALL OF MY MOTHER PERSONAL DATA DURING THAT 10 DAYS!!
(i dont know he means military HQ or scammer HQ, either way he is very desperate)

Before got scammed my mother also add some nigerian named:

He has account in FB and related to Moose account, but looks like its deleted now...
even if there is little evidence on him, the deletion of his account really suspicious...

Moose tell my mother from Blackberry to sent 'money mock letter' to his nigerian friend. This is the point where i started to get suspicious....

Good thing i keep the scanned image, i black my mother name for reason of anonimity...

Although there a possibilty of fake person, i got a hunch they bit overconfindent with their scam..

My mom is VERY afraid because he threatened her to do something horrible, i fail at convincing her that its impossible to do because nigeria is very far away. Anyone know how to convince her that everything is save?

i dont know what the next step is...calling police or FBI? What can i do now is just warn everybody about this omotoso guy and make sure people realized how horrible this crime is..my mother torn apart now...

He can't do anything. He is a fake soldier with a fake HQ - so his threat is more funny than worrying.

It's like finding out that your father is playing the part of Father Christmas in a costume, and then have him telling you he has to go outside to look after the reindeer. You've found him out and you know he's fake. He is so stupid he doesn't know his story is now just a joke - and how does he believe your mother has scammed him ?

What you see now is what your mother would have seen in Singapore - his nasty side. US soldiers don't behave like that and they don't run crying to their officers if they get upset, certainly not Special Forces. The closest he has ever got to Special Forces is a packet of Special K breakfast cereal.

Spoil your mother's data ? - that doesn't mean anything. What will he do ? - erase it. He is making threats that are illegal, so he cannot be who he says he is otherwise he wouldn't do that, and there's very little he can do with your mother's data. It won't earn him any money so he is very unlikely to do anything at all, but he'll try bullying if he thinks he can get her back.

I hope she didn't pay him any money, but in any case she should just ignore him and cease all contact. If she gets into an argument with him he will try to keep a hold, but by ignoring him he'll concentrate on other targets.

It might be that Facebook responded to your report, or he may have changed his profile because one of his lady friends that I warned told him he was busted.

That is a typical scammer response. If they don't get money one way, they will try another--and they don't care who they hurt!

The best thing to do at this point is cut off contact with him.

in just one night he add more than dozens girl.. it seems he know someone trying to warn his potential victim and thus provoking by saying 'see how many you can warn now!'

The only thing is, we need to have "used by scammer" or something like that clearly over the front of the photos. This helps us to protect the real person in the photos and also helps to make the photos unusable by other scammers.
