Welcome here mrsnads.

Thanks for posting this, and i'm glad you didn't get scammed. The website is suspicious as there is this on the bottom of the page: copyright 1999-2009, but the website is registerred in march 2010. They have been steeling pictures and text from other sites too. Just some things that came up with a quick research.

Being a victim doesn't mean you stand alone. We're here to help you.

xxxxxxxx,

If you can make the deposit of 1 week £250 and £200 refundable security deposit we can delay the apartment for you to view.

If you findout that you do not like the apartment we will have to deduct the amount £50 for viewing and return the balance of £400 back to
you.

Thank you.

Wow! I believe I almost got scammed by these same people today! I have a feeling I know what they're doing. Each time they get caught, they open up a new website with pretty much a lot of the same information, but just with a different name. They seem to love using HYDE PARK and MAY FAIR. They also like changing their names too. They're dumb enough to use English names, when in reality they're South Africans.

Spoke to the woman named "Mitchelle Mills" and when confronted as to why their phone numbers on their website don't work, she got all nervous and couldn't give me a straight answer. She then hung up on me.

Here's some of their correspondence from these past couple of days.
-----------

Beware of this company posing as a legitimate holiday accommodation service.

I was almost deceived by them because these SCAMMERS are getting more clever. They posted photos of this amazingly beautiful 2 bedroom flat in Paddington - London for £350 a week. I should've known it was too good to be true. They've got 3 flats on their fake website at the moment.

Hoping anyone reading this won't get scammed by them.

I sent them a message and they quickly replied with this message:

"Dear Sir/ma,

Our Talbot Two Bedrooms Apartment - is available for the 2 months you requested.

The rate is £2800.

We requested for 10% deposit from the rent rate which is £280 plus the £200 refundable security deposit.

Total deposit required is £480 to secure the booking.

Should you arrive in London by aeroplane or train, we strongly advise that you book with us a London taxi.

They will have the keys to the property, meet you at the airport and take you straight to the property in comfort.

We accept bank transfer only.

You can view our Talbot Two Bedrooms Apartment on the link below.

http://www.hydepark-shortstay.co.uk/#/t ... 4545109485

If you wish to proceed, we will send you our apartment arrival details form and the bank details to make the deposit.

Best regards

David & Mitchelle Mills (Owner)

I phoned the two telephone numbers on their website and none worked. When I asked them why they didn't work, the lady "Mitchelle Mills" ignored my questions. They then phoned us from various mobile numbers, which happened to be from South Africa. We found out that they're South Africans posing as being European/British. They asked me to first transfer money into their account before we could see the flat. Dodgy!!

Don't fall for their scams. When I spoke to the lady and asked her questions about why their phone numbers don't work on their website, she couldn't give me an answer and hung up on me.

They then replied with this:

"Dear Sir,

You can extend the stay, up to 2 months.

Please click the following link to complete the apartment arrival form:

Hi journalist11, welcome to scamwarners.

Thank you for posting up their details and site, others might find it through google and avoid being scammed that way. I have added the site to our 'to kill'-list to get it offline soon.

I am very interested in the last mail where they sent you the bankaccount. I have seen it before with other sites, and I would really like the headers of that mail. With those headers we can get it reported to the correct people and we might get it closed down. Could you please send the headers to my emailaccount? If you don't know how to find headers, just tell us your mail provider and we'll be happy to explain. Thanks!

Hi Michael,

Thanks for replying. What does it mean you're going to add it to your "to kill" list to get it offline?

I use a gmail email server and have no idea how to send you the headers. Will you please let me know how and I'll get that to you quickly.

These scammers must get exposed and am glad that there are sites like yours.
by Michael Fri Nov 05, 2010 3:11 pm
Hi journalist11,

Personally I am a member of a group of people that get fake sites offline - what that means is that we do research on them, then report it to the hosters which will take the site offline if we get enough evidence. Basically we want this site to stop being visible to people visiting the site. I have added this site to the list that need to be investigated and killed, (which means taken offline, in this context)

To find headers in Gmail:
Open the mail. Next to 'Reply', in the top right, you will see a small downward facing arrow. Click it, and then select the option 'Show original'. A new window will open with the headers. Just copy the complete thing and send it to me. Thanks a million! :D

Wow! They're still going strong! They must have a resident website designer working for them. They're South African Scammers. Their made up names make me laugh. They always sign off with English sounding names and (Owner). Maybe they should practice their English because it should be Owners.

Thanks for letting us know. Hope they can remove their new fake website.
