i have been emailing someone who calls himself Richie mcneany who says he is in the US Army we have been emailing for about 3 months , about a month ago i saw item on the on the tele about a woman who had been scammed by some one , when i listen to the proggram the things she said sounded as thou i was listening t Richie almost word for word .... i spoke to him about it and he convinced me that he was telling me the truth , then this evening i spoke to him and he stated that if i wanted to talk to him on the phone i would have to contact the army to set up a phone link and he gave me an email address to write to the address he gave me i put into google search and it stated that it was a scam address so i went back on line to him and confronted him about it and he insists that he is telling me the truth about how he is and that there must be some confusion , the biggest part of me hopes that there is just a mix up as i have found myself having great feelings toward him , and it is not as though he is some hunking looking fella as he is far from that if any thing he looks rough and ready and as thou he has been dragged thought a hedge backwards .could really do with some advice . many thanks suzi

Welcome Suzi,

I wish I had something better to tell you, though I suspect that deep down you probably already know what I am going to tell you. This is a definite scammer.

Mail2army.com addresses are free addresses that have absolutely no connection to the US army. Anyone can go to mail2world.com and get one. You can see here that mail2army.com is on their list: http://www.mail2world.com/s/m2wpublic/domains/domains_professions.asp

When scammers are pretending to be females, most often they will use photos of models. That is not the case when they are playing male roles. While they do use model photos at times, they are just as likely to use photos of men who are more "average" looking. This is especially true when they are pretending to be soldiers, as they have to choose from whatever photos they can find and steal online.

If you can post some of his emails to you, especially his early ones, it may help other potential victims, as it is very possible he sends the same emails using different names also.
