I was contacted via the Friends Reunited dating site by "Joe Kerry", an American currently working in Damascus with the UNTSO! The usual story, lots of chatting on MSN, declarations of love and wanting marriage, despite the fact i had told him i wasn't even divorced yet! It has taken nearly 3 months to ask for money! £1200 to cover "customs" fees for the business he was setting up after he left the UN. Of course I couldn't write to him, but did receive lots of Greetings Cards from 123.com! My radar has been screaming at me since day 1 cos he wouldn't share any aspect of his life, other than he had a 16yr old son living with his in laws in California following the death of his wife!!! When I explained I wasn't willing to send any money anywhere, he made the mistake of sending an actual email and I had the proof that he was speaking to me from Nigeria by checking theIP address. Further reasearch highlighted that he is in fact very well known as a scammer and led me to this site! I immediately broke all contact, much to his annoyance, but i do have pictures he sent and I'm worried that some innocent person has had their identity stolen. He used the email [email protected]! Please beware all. I haven't given any money, but have invested time over the past couple of months and have decided he is just evil!
