leave request for a millitary man

Captain Edward cole and i have been talking for months, we were talking about meeting up and he said maybe it would bring us together and maybe we would have a future.
he asked me to write to a military address and request him leave which i did, i asked him to write a letter and i would add the bits i needed to say it was from me, from the start of that i felt as a Captain writing a letter, it seemed childish.
i still never at this point thought anything really wrong,

Until i got a form to sign and scan back at the bottom it said there were charges for me to pay.THEN ALARM BELLS RANG, i am blonde but far from stupied.

i know its a scam

I have recently been talking to Christian Robson, claims to be US Army, investigative unit, just sent to Libya about two weeks ago. Another scammer professing his love for me in just a day or two.
Within one week of talking, he wants to meet me, so he is requesting leave and planning on spending two weeks with me. The day after he tells me he applied for leave, he is approved and will be here that same Friday. I asked for some flight info, and couldnt even give me a terminal which he would be arriving at.
I explained that i would need to know whether A B or C, and the airline hub he would be coming in on.
finally he said he found Terminal B on his paperwork, but that was all the info he had at the time.

He has asked on more than several occassions for me to pay this imaginary fee so "we can make this real"
I told him that's not happening, if he were a real man, HE WOULD MAKE IT HAPPEN
I really cant believe these guys think im going to fork over my hard earned money, might as well just burn it before sending to a complete stranger !

It doesn't sound as if he's ever seen an airport or aeroplane.

I, too, have been approached by someone on Match.com pretending to be a military guy in Iraq. After 4 days of emailing and chatting, Stephen Haws, Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy (UTJA_69 on Match) turned up the heat on day four, telling me how much he wanted to meet me and what a connection we had, blah blah. Then he started saying he wanted to come home for R&R to meet me if person to see if things "would work out", and he wanted me to write the visiting general to request leave. He promised up and down that he would pay me back when he got to the states.

Of course I called him on it, and he kept pressing and I kept saying no way, and called him a fraud and schemer. He said "if you can't trust me, then we don't have a future, please don't contact me again". As if!!

Anyway, I reported him Match, but I feel sorry for the guy (or guys) photos he is using to pretend he is a fit and gorgeous military guy. Oh yeah, he's a widow with a 5-year old named Christine and he is supposedly retiring in December after 20 years. Here's a litte bit of an email:

So far I love everything about you...you sound and look perfect but I know we all have inperfections as human beings. I believe sometimes life hits you with unexpected things that take you totally by surprise. All I can say is you are the best surprise life has given me in these recent times. I am working very Hard Because I'll be Retiring Soon,My work involves energy and travel. Looking at my schedule I will be able to meet up with you in a month from now Only if things Works out Good for us. I am hoping Within that time I we can familiarize and discover true love. I too was contacted by an Andrew Nolan, [email protected]. from Millionaire match.com dating site, username meandyou63. I have since had his profile removed by the site. Sent 6 photos showing a handsome US soldier (Nolan last name on the uniform). Claims he is 46, divorced, 2 children, both his parents died when he was 20. Wishes to relocate to the UK when he retires for peace and serenity, as he is half American, half British. Uniform shows him to be pay grade E6. Chatted for a month on MSN - appalling grammar which set off alarm bells. Usual declaration of love after 4 days, endless poems, yadda, yadda. Even told me he had nearly died recently on my birthday whilst defusing bombs!
Has recently written a draft of a letter which he asked me to add to as his fiancee for special leave unto retirement. The email address this was to be sent to was [email protected]. The form was a joke - unknown address in Washington D.C, no zip code.I have informed my 'soldier' this has now been returned - as if! Currently being bombarded with emails stating the form hasn't been received by a General George Evans. Have given the excuse that the email bounced back 'unverified' and could he give me his .mil address and also that of his commander. More excuses - he sees no reason why it shouldn't go through and neither he nor commander can 'mediate' in the process. I haven't let on that I know only soldiers can apply for their own leave and never a civilian on their behalf.
I am, understandably, extremely hurt, but glad that he has not, nor will he ever gain from me financially.
However I want to prevent this from happening to other women out there. I have not been able to find other postings of women reporting this particular soldier. Would you advise how I'd be able to post photos of the identity he is using. Poor real soldier - wish I could contact him to alert him to this scam.

By now you should have dropped contact with this criminal; you will not gain more information - he is lying with every sentence. And if you make him angry he could start to harrass and threaten you over the internet.

I received a reply from the scammer whilst I posted the reply and told him I was aware the document was bogus...asked for both his military ID and APO address...only to receive the same 'you are accusing the wrong guy...I'll send you a photo of me holding your picture but I cannot send you my details...you are treating me like a puppet, why are you attacking me'. at which point I laughed and said if they cannot be sent and I am unable to verify your details do not contact me again. Frankly I was surprised he made contact on a Sunday! Believe me, I'm not frightened of his threats nor do I intend to keep up this charade.

I had [email protected] contact me on Bikers or not site who pretty much said all the same things, but wanted me to send $250.00 for a phone card. Anyway, his cohort is [email protected] who is the wannabe US Army commander aka commander Troxell. They both claim to be stationed in Libya. Didn't fall for the crap for I come from a long line of Army Military and know they, nor any military personnel can get leave unless it is a emergency, not get early release for a phone communication turning out good, which is what they were trying to hand me. I finally called him on it. Told him I knew he was a poser. He got violent and threatened me, then changes his attitude like the wind with a email saying how much he loves me, blah blah blah, but be sure to send the money...
Another thing is the English and how they type it. They are good, but not good enough. Our Military people are educated, know how to type, write, and speak English! If anyone gets a email or a message with broken English like these scamming clowns have, it should put up a red flag.
It's a shame when people lack so many morals that they have to use United States Armed Forces to feed their scams. Spam the messages. Do not reply to them. They will eventually stop contacting you and move forward, unfortunately, on to another innocent victim.

By a million to 1 fluke whilst researching another topic I came across the real soldier whose identity is being flaunted. I have contacted authorities to alert him of the fraud.
Thankfully this has brought me a great sense of closure on the topic now I know he exists somewhere and is living his life albeit unaware of the scams. I'm now 100% clued up on scammers and can ensure I will be requesting the necessary information from whoever contacts me to prove they are who they say they are.
So to all you ladies out there who have fallen prey to these scammers, their justice will be served to them one way or another - God does not wear pyjamas and sees EVERYTHING!!

Requesting and receiving identity information from someone on the internet does not guarantee they are not a scammer. Many have very bonafide looking IDs they use. The request for funds to be sent by any means is a GREAT tip that the person is scamming.

Do be careful and also feel free to ask here if you are at all uncertain what the person is up to.

Scammers are practiced liars and they do not hesitate to tell you something that is not true. They create a fantasy to get you sucked in to it. I hope you will be careful who you talk to and what you tell them or agree to do while on the internet.

I am still hurting...just had another fight with the man, I thought to be the love of my life. He saw me on FB and sent a friendly message claiming he is a U.S. military posted in Lagos, Nigeria. He saw that I am a member of eHarmony and posted a feedback on one of eH's topic. It was all roses for the first week until I mentioned my birthday in November and jokingly asked if he would like to be my date on my birthday. He said he can...and I only need to write to their office so he can be scheduled for a leave...which he said can be for as long as I want...and we agreed on 3 months. I wrote to this email add... [email protected] then after I sent it...I got notification that it was undelivered... my man said it was received... and that notification is for those unwanted senders who are not in the system. I got a reply and a Leave Request Form that I had to fill up, scan and email back. I thought that was it...but then they sent another email showing 2 pdf forms....one showed Leave Request Charges [Processing and Admin]...and the other one was the Money Back Guarantee form.

I asked my man about this and also emailed their office about this but was told that it was standard procedure. I advised them that I will be unable to send that amount and if I can have those waived so there won't be any need for reimbursement. I was replied with another option...just pay the Processing fee of $940 USD within 72 working hours. I looked for your website and found the info that only the military personnel himself and his immediate family can apply for his leave or transfer. I was devastated. I confronted my man about all this and he said about your article "She is solely talking from US perperctive not for does on UN peace keep missions in africa". I asked him to prove himself otherwise...asked him for his family's information in the U.S. but won't give me because he said that is classified information blah blah blah. He went to bed and we stopped without resolving the matter. He just promised he will have his Dad call me so I can talk to his Dad and his two boys.

What shall I do? I really fell for this man. It was all so good until they asked me for money. I am so devastated right now.
