I'm glad you avoided falling for this scam!

I will clarify a few points for those who are not very familiar with paypal:

Reversals : This method of payment can not be reversed.

This is a scammer-invented rule. All paypal payments can be reversed in certain situations, and Paypal does have a process to get your money back if you don't receive your purchase.

Status : Pending - Transport Company Awaiting Payment.

There is no such status in Paypal. Transfers are instant. Paypal does not hold your money for any reason. They are not an escrow service, and they are very clear about that fact.

Please, find below the name and address of the Transport Agent where the Funds would be sent via Western Union Money Transfer.

Paypal is a money transfer service. Western Union is a competing money transfer service. Paypal is not going to send anyone to their own competition!

Hi thank god you post this!

Im selling my car on trademe (NZ Ebay) and that man pretend to be interested in my car.

here his email

Hello,

how i wish i could come and inspect and testdrive this car but currently i'm working away from the country. I'm a marine engineer who's on a ship right now in Bahamas.so i'll be buying the car without seeing it, Also I'll be paying via PayPal and i'm more than happy to pay the PayPal transfer charges too. Due to the distance as me being in Bahamas presently, i'll arrange the pick-up of the car with a Private Courier Service as soon as you get your payment, I need you to provide the following details so that i can proceed with the Payment...

Your PayPal e-Mail Address :
Your Mobile Number :
Price is ok

Soon as i make the payment and you get the funds, the Courier Service will come and pick up the car at your home at your convenient time also the courier will help me sign the required papers.

Have a nice day

-After that i told him Someone want the car for 2200 nzd and he reply me right away : 2500

he wa not even trying to negociate !

and here is the other mail :

I just finished paying the money for the car into your account, a paypal payment confirmation email is being sent to your email address, you can check your e-mail for confirmation (check your Junk Folder if you cant find the payment confirmation in your inbox)
I made an additional payment of 1,500 which is required for the freight charges, you'll have to send the extra amount to the Shipping Company through Western Union as soon as possible so that they can come for the pick up and also you should send the Western Union receipt and your home address to paypal and they'll schedule a date of which the pick-up will commence. '' i cant send the money to the agent by myself because i'm offshore and i'd need to get into a post office to use western union''
Here is the agent details which you're required to send the money to through western union

Greg Michael
11 Bree Hill
Chelmsford
Essex
CM3 7AD
United Kingdom

You should send the money soon and send a picture of the western union receipt to paypal via email, Also the courier will not come to pick the car until paypal has deposited the whole money into your bank account. you have to send your bank information to paypal alongside the western union details if your bank account is not registered with paypal already

It's Nice Doing Business With You.
Get back to me soon with your address.

after that I checked my paypal account and nothing! wtf!
Then I search for "paypal Transport/Delivery Charges" on google and i came across this site

thank you to have post about this!

I too have received two different e-mails from similar Paypal/AutoTrader scamers. Both were off-shore/in an obscure forest and wanted my PayPal info as well as sending money via WesternUnion to a UK address for their "agent" to pick up the car. I have informed both AutoTrader and PayPal. The names given to me were 'Alexander Mangel" and "Don Cox". These people are scum.

Hello
i have got almost identical mail as in the first post. After i found this i send him a link a told him that i almost get fooled etc.

His reply was
"You are nothing but just an idiot
What's my own business with the link you gave to me..
I will contact the paypal FBI police now for an immediate legal action arrest on you ...
So by then you will understand the violation you have caused"

Should i just ignore it?

and btw his name was Mark Robert and his transport "agent" was Thomas Richard

Welcome here Ruffy.

It looks like the scammer didn't like to see his scam posted. You can just ignore it, he can't do anything.

Being a victim doesn't mean you stand alone. We're here to help you.
