these scammers think we are so stupid . same stuff love you want to marry you i need leave , i love to catch these scammers out .claims he was a solidier couldnt even spell taliban, i asked him for the ranks he started with constable lol so i carried the scam on . uses the email adress patric gendhe@hotmail .com says he is from essex and moved to liverpool . never asked for money but as soon as he said i couldnt write to him i knew i know people in the army and know the rules and regulations . they think we are stupid . so just wanted to let you know about this scammer . he is on the dating site badoo too

Hello gypsygill and welcome to ScamWarners. I'm glad that you are able to recognise these scammers.

Please drop contact with all scammers as soon as you realise that it is a scam - they are criminals, and you do not want to be in continuing contact with a criminal who has some of your personal details.

It is possible to 'bait' scammers by just pretending to believe their scams, but this must always be done totally anonymously, and without any connection to any real details of yours. If you are interested in doing this, you will find lots of guidance at our sister site:

In the meantime, could you please post the first one or two emails that you received from the scammers you mentioned above. Please include the headers (though make sure you delete every instance of your own details from them first) - if you are not sure how to access the headers of emails, just state which email provider you are using (eg Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail), and someone will be able to help you with that.
