I have been scammed out of £5000. Eastern Counties Echo faxed my card details onto Mike Masih from Wiltshire and counties Guardian. (an anonymous call from a woman in the Guardian warned me) when I checked my statement the money had gone, he had taken it in separate amounts over a period of time. I have a copy of the faxed document, which she posted to me as proof. I am having a hard time trying to get my money back from the bank as the Guardian has made it look as if I had asked for the advert. I did not place an advert with them, but hey have used the same artwork as what the Eastern Counties used. Our business donates money to charities so this amount of money going out for sponsorship and advertising is not unusual. I am happy that the girl at least had a conscience.
Do not deal with these papers they are a scam. A message to all you sales people who are helping yourselves to peoples credit card money, how would you feel if one of your collegues did it to you or your mother, granny?? Thanks to these scammers the company I work for has now put a stop on all advertising and charity support. So buy stealing from us you are actually preventing children from cash funds as we support not only children with cancer, we also support under privelaged children and abused children in the UK.
You people who work for these sort of newspapers are really scum.

The type of scam we deal with mostly is known as a '419 scam' and normally the companies that are mentioned don't exist at all.

When the companies you mention exist in the real world, then there are legal issues that mean it would be better to refer it to a UK forum like MoneySavingExpert.com. Do not believe that I'm trying to discourage you, quite the reverse. You may discover people there with the same problems and issues and discover how to resolve them.

It would help if you are more specific and provide more detailed facts in any post you make there, otherwise you may find it deleted by the forum if they appear to be unsubstantiatable claims.

No matter how it may sound to you, I am not intending to be unhelpful. If you follow my advice it will be useful to you and others with the same problem.
