Hi all,
wanted to share this with you, only 2 nights ago I was made aware that I might have a person poseing as a us military colonel. It started christmas day I was on a dating site and this im came through, wanted to get to know me. He said he was 48yrs called Tim Griffin, divorced and got custody of his daughter Monic who lives with his mom in the US. He was based at Fort Lewis Barracks WA. He was finishing his last tour this year and was looking to settle down with somewhere and was quite happy to move to the UK with his daughter aged 15. He has been deployed in afganistan since august 2010 last saw his daughter in july 2010.
for 3 months overwelming poems, nice words chatting online and emails ( [email protected] ) he asked for my address and sent me flowers as you can imagined I was well sucked in .then he asked me to request leave on his behalf which I did. then forms were sent through email and i sent them back, then I recieved a phone call from his commander requesting a fee of 2,500$ which I didnt send luckily. He still continued with the romantic emails. then he asked me help him to set up a phone connection for a fee of $400 ( 200 pounds ) I was foolished enough to send £100 because couldnt afford any more as he agreed to pay half, sent it by western union which Ive never used before just so I could hear his voice! which however didnt sound like what I imagined.
6 months down the line, by this time I was well sucked in until my sister told me to look online about these scams I did and found a testimonial from another women with simular circumstances and a photo of him on the bottom the same as the one I recieved.
this however made my mind up after a few tears and embarrassment. I just felt so humiliated and felt as if ive been emotionally raped.
luky for me I only lost 100 pounds some have lost more

Hi Stylistic, unfortunately scammers are very good at what they do, romance scammers especially.

They know exactly how to manipulate people, and don't care about the hurt they cause, nor the financial losses from their victims.

I can understand your feelings, they get you emotionally involved with various stories about divorces, children, they will send you emails supposedly from their children to bolster their story, and eventually ask for money.

The one hundred pounds you have lost is not a small amount, and unfortunately it is long gone.

Please take care, work at recovering your feelings, and be aware of the low life that do frequent dating sites.

Wishing you the best of luck for the future

John
