so when i first met my scammer, he gave me a uk 44- 704 number. when i first tried calling it, i used my landline because i could call internationally. everytime i called it, the person who answered sounded like they had an american accent, i asked for 'bryan' and i would hear whoever it was yelling..phone! i heard a dog in the background, commotion but it took a long time for this person to pickup. i tried that 2 more times and got the same response. of course, at the same time, i was IMing my scammer saying i'm on the phone where are you?

he says i'm not calling him. to try calling the number from a cell phone.

so after i set up my cell with international calling, i called him..and it worked. i got him. i always got him with the cell.

why would calling from a landline vs. a cell phone make a difference in end? i tried to find some online research about it but couldnt. only that using a cell phone costs more per minute.

anyone know the answer to this?

This is a wild guess: Is it possible that your landline phone's settings say "Don't show this number?" If so then the accomplice needs to take the call first to find out
- either whom of his scammer friends to get to answer
- or which of the victims is calling so the scammer can adopt the character he is playing with this particular victim.

AHAAAAA!!! yes that does makes sense. so if i call then from my mobile he immediately picks up cuz he knows its me.

the only thing is, my landline is not set up for private outbound calling. ??

it almost makes me want to call again and question them.

Even if you don't have caller ID blocked, it may be that he only recognizes your cell number. If he hasn't figured out your home phone number, it is best to leave it alone and not help him to figure it out.

I don't understand why you want to pursue this situation. It is well documented here that 44-70 numbers are redirect numbers used by scammers. You know (from your other posts) that you are dealing with a scammer.

Drop contact with the scammer. They never "come clean" with where they actually are or who they actually are or that they are dirty rotten scammers.

Who ever you believe you are talking to is not who you are actually talking to. You will get no truthful answers from the scammer, and unless we have an expert on international caller IDs se do not necessarily have the answer you are seeking.

In summary: 1. It is a scammer; 2. Drop communication with them.
