Don't worry about it. Just ignore the scammer and drop him. Do not reply to any more emails, and don't confront him/her (even if they claim to be a woman, it is probably a man). Ignore any emails (you can change your email address if he becomes a pest--it doesn't happen often but on occasion a scammer will become a pest), and if you gave him your phone number, do not take any phone calls. If you didn't give him any bank account, credit card, or other significant personal or financial information, you are safe--he doesn't have any information that someone couldn't get just by going to whitepages.com.

This is the scammer's business, and losing victims is just a part of everyday business. This type of scam generally originates in West Africa. Scammers don't travel across the world to hurt victims who wised up and didn't pay or stopped paying. Some scammers will in fact start threatening victims if they think it will get them to pay. Again, do not respond to him in any way if he does that, you can report threats to your local police if necessary.

Edit to add: Also ignore any emails you get that are supposed to be from the FBI, Scotland Yard, EFCC, or any other law enforcement agency. Scammers love to pretend to be law enforcement and then a) try to blackmail you for "working" with the scammer (responding like you did is not in any way illegal) b) try to convince you the scammer is not a scammer or c) say they are going to prosecute your scammer and try to scam you out of personal information and/or money for the "investigation". The important thing to know is this: Law enforcement agencies have their hands full with local crimes and the victims who have lost large sums of money. They don't have the time or resources to deal with people who have only sent a small amount of money or did not send money at all, so they certainly won't be initiating contact with you.

Hi Poor Lady,

Please don't worry about how they will react if you drop them, they will move on to the next victim who replied to one of the thousands of emails they will have sent out.

The scammers are probably thousands of miles away from where you are, and it will not be worth their while to travel, so relax.

They will probably keep trying to get money from you - if they call, put the phone down, don't try arguing with them. You will prbably receive emails from others promising to get your money back. same gang, different scam.

I am glad Google helped you see it was a scam, hopefully before you lost too much money.

Wow! I need you and thank you for the information.

I am SO GLAD YOU BURST MY BUBBLE

So I can close this chapter with no more fretting, right? Thanks so much for your help.

Hi Poor lady,

I am glad to hear that you managed to find that it is a scam before losing any money.

The others above have given you some great advice already, you are quite safe however you could expect to recieve an increased amount of scam emails in your inbox and the ymay include some of your own details that you provided to them

While it is not ideal for anybody to give out those details to scammers by email, there really isn't anything they will do to you with it.

Scammers are notoriously lazy and unless there is the chance of getting money from you they really couldn't be bothered and will move onto your next victim.

Thank you for posting the emails, by doing so you may alert somebdoy else about this scam and save them from losing money or going the the concerns tha tyou have.

The scam emails you have posted look like fairly standard script for a scmmer and a quick search on some of the script will pull up some other examples of the same scam which you can take a look at by Clicking Here

If you have any other questions please dont hesitate to ask but please, if it is regarding this scam, please post your questions here by clicking the reply button.

Dear Sir,

This is to let you know that the diplomat will contact you as soon as he arrived in your country.
And also the diplomat whom we have made arrangement with, will be travelling down to your country this week.
so right now the diplomat will be having round table discussion meeting with the customs in the airport here, to discuss on how your consignment will be attached with the official baggage’s of the diplomat because your partner Mrs Gibe Cale, told us that we shall do everything possible to see that your package passed the airport without any inspection from the customs and we promised her that we shall try our best to do so.
This is the reason of the meeting between the diplomat and the customs and we shall immediately contact you after this meeting .

We shall give you all other necessary information’s concerning the movement of the diplomat as for you to meet with him as soon as he arrives in your country for the collection, the diplomat will immediately contact you as for you to know his position and meet with him.
regards,
Mr, Louis Sukeh.

There nothing to worry about. You haven't given your real name here, and the likely have very many postal addresses of potential victims. So they can't trace you, even if they wanted to. Which they don't. They're interested in your money, not revenge. Just keep ignoring their emails.

Notice the words "your country". The reason they use these words instead of actually putting in any real information about where you live is because they are using a script. In other words, they send the exact same pre-written email out to dozens of potential victims from multiple countries, and these words save them the effort of having to pay attention to which victim they are writing to. The scammers have no intention of traveling anywhere.

The 6th EMAIL FROM Vigassistance" <[email protected]>

HOPE THAT OTHER VICTIMS CAN READ.. PLs help spread this animalistic act.. NO heart afterall.. DUMB PEOPLE!!

Atten:

Dear Sir,

CONGRATULATIONS..

We hereby confirmed that everything concerning the movment of your cargo will be over this week because the diplomat will be comming down to your county this week.

The diplomat is now ready to travel down to your country for an official duty as well as delivering your cargo direct to YOU as soon as he arrives there in your country.

Note that the diplomat handling charges in delivereing your cargo is US$6,000.00 but We have also consider the ealier discussion with Mrs,Gibe Cale concerning the payment of the diplomat to receive his payment charges as soon as he arrived in your country with the consignment, this is not in our company policy, because the diplomat surpose to earn part of his service charge,of $6,000.00 before any action but due to Mrs,Gibe's condition and her sincerity, so we are giving her this benefit of doubt.

Be reminded that the meeting/arrangments between the diplomat and the security officers to make sure that any other lodgage attached to the diplomats official lodgage will pass through with him in the ariport has come to an end.

So,inorder for your Cargo to have a smooth passage in the airport without "INSPECTION" the diplomat and the custom officers resolved as follows;

Weight Bill $450, Security Charge $1,275, Non Inspection Bill $3,562, Total ($5,287) this is an arrangment between the diplomat and security men at the screaning point concerning your lodgage which was attached with the official lodgages with which the diplomat will be travling down to your country this week.

Note, all these arrangements is for the diplomat to fly down and deliver your consignment, now you have to make sure that your cargo will be among the ones he will be carring alongside with him to your country.

Be also reminded that this fee ($5,287) is not for the diplomat nor the company but rather it is for the security/custom men so as to make sure that your consignment is not being INSPECTED in the airport before departure Mrs,Gibe Cale has strongly pleaded that we should do everything within our reach to see that your consignment will not be INSPECTED in the airport before depature, and that was the reason for the meeting between the diplomat and the security officials.
Please let us know immediately if you want your Box to be inspected as it is normal and right that the security men must inspect it before letting it pass through. Note that the diplomat wouldn't have gone to negotiate with the security men but due to the plea from your partner to save the box from inspection, this is why the security men agreed not to inspect it by requesting for this fees.

Immediately we heard from you concerning the payment fee of your cargo to the airport officials then we shall send you the diplomt's flight schedule,(ETA)and the Guarantee Letter which will be used for identification and collection of your consignment as soon as he arrived, please you should not worry for anything concerning the customs in your country because the diplomat will make sure that everything is smooth and clear before contacting you so you don't need to meet any other custom in your country because the diplomat will clear everything before contacting you.

Thanks,
And be guided accordingly,
Mr,Louis Sukeh.

Note that the diplomat handling charges in delivereing your cargo is US$6,000.00

That's another sure sign of a scam. Diplomats do not deliver money etc to people.

Dear One, I am very sorry for any incoveinence it might bring to your person as the company asking you to pay for the customs fee. I tried all i could to make sure that everything went well without advancing any money before receiving our consignment, and that every expencess should be taken from our fund after you might received it, this is why i ask the company that the diplomat will receive his delivery charges of $6000 after delivery and they agreed. But concerning the customs fee, i am the one that ask the company to help us and make sure that our consignment will not be inspected, because it will not be in our favour if the customs know the content of our box as fund, they will seize it and it will be difficult for the diplomat to deliver it.So, inorder for our consignment to be free from inspection the customs need this fee, now if we delay in paying the customs ,the company might started suspecting the content also, as you know my late husband deposited our consignment to the company as a family valuable to be ship overseas and not as fund, so even the company is not aware of the content. You can now see that it is important to clear our box from customs inspection, i know it is not easy for you concerning the $5.287 but right now, i have try to afford some money through selling of my jewelry box which is the onlything that can help me to get cash, but the buyers said it will cost only $2000, that means we can afford $2000 now, but i also ask the director to help us and he agreed .So please inorder to get this done, i will like you to write to the director and just let him know how much you can afford in the remain $3.287 so that he will help us complete the remainingAgain, i am sorry for putting you into this kind of trouble, if i have the whole cash ,i would'nt have gone to sell anything, please, try to understand my situation, the diplomat is ready to move and we have to make fast as to meet up with his time table. The company will direct you on how to send the amount that you can afford.Once again i am sorry.
Waiting to hear from you asap. Mrs, Gibe Cale.
