Re Christiane Maillard the reply I received

i believe this is a scam along with the others that have been posted, please see below the emails i have recieved:-

I'm Mrs Christiane Maillard from Paris,France.during my search for a Painter lesson teacher that would always take my son (David) and I found your advert..Your advert looks great and it is very okay to me since you specialize in the area i am seeking for him.

My Son would be coming to UK (your city) Before the ending of next month for a period of time and with his friend for 12 week's.He is just a beginner i want you to help me teach lesson during his stay.

So, kindly let me know your charges cost per week's ,in order for me to arrange for his payment before he travels down to your side.I have also made preparation for his personal equipment he will be using privately at home after the lesson during his stay.

Please Advise back on:
(1). your charges per 1 hour twice a week for 3 Months?
(2).The Day and time you will be available to teach him During the week?
(3).Tuition address?

I will be looking forward to read from you soonest.

Meanwhile,I'm pleased to read from you back concerning the David's lessons and i am giving you my word that i have no doubt about all what you said in the email.As for the lesson fee the price is okay by me but i will like to know how much will cost me for the period of 3month.

Concerning the payment arrangement,i also assuring you that won't be a problem as one of my husband's Business associate would be paying the one on my behalf and my husband had already spoke with him about this and he said that won't be any problem that we should let him knows when everything is set so that he can issue you the Cashier cheque for the lessons fee and more so all the total money will be paid at once.

So i will be expecting to read from you back with the following information below:

You are right, as that is certainly a scam. The English is West African in style, and it's a common format aimed at those offering private tuition. Can you quote the email address please, and edit your name out of your other post, if a moderator doesn't get there first.

I have also received an email, slightly different obviously since I teach piano, but very similar, enough to show it's definitely a scam:

And after my detailed reply, I got this, that also made me skeptical cause it seemed like the person didn't even bother reading my reply.

Almost certainly nothing. He's after your money, not your personal information. A genuine client would ask for it, so he's only trying to look legitimate.

Sounds like he needs a english teacher more than he needs a music teacher. It sure looks
like some kind of scam just not sure of what kind unless he tries to get some more personal
info from you at some point in the future.

It's a bog-standard fake check scam.

The scammer would send a fraudulent check for the "lessons" only it would be written for over the amount, and he wants the victim to cash the check and wire the excess to someone (ultimately it would end up in his hand). Occasionally, the check will be for the correct amount, and the scammer will have to cancel for an emergency, and will request the money be wired back to him (minus something for the victim's trouble).

Later, when the check is found to be fraudulent, the victim is the one who will be in trouble over the bad deposit.
