This one started in April, but it looks like its gearing up for another run:

Mei Ah Electrical & Industry (HK) Co., Ltd.
1001-07, Lippo Sun Plaza,
28 Canton Road, TST HongKong
Email: [email protected]

Yes, its a real company, etc., etc. But, of course the email is a scam- "there is no free lunch". I am teaching my youngest son (14, or so) about the "scam world", and he is amazed how sophisticated folks can be. I mean, you can "buy" accounts in Asia, Nigeria's government basically supports scams, etc. Its beyond "buyer beware", its "thank G-d for the U.S. Second Amendment!"

Hi Loridans1 and welcome to ScamWarners.

Thanks for posting this information.

The previous scams that we have in the name of 'Mei Ah Electrical & Industry (HK)' are delinquent account collection scams aimed at US lawyers. Are you a lawyer, or did you just receive the email in a personal email account?

It looks like they have now changed the email address that they are using. Could you post their full email, so we can see if they are still running the same scam.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

I wouldn't mind betting that [email protected] would work  at least for another day or so

Not too sure how relevant any of this is but this search may be relevant Click Here

COMRADES:

I am a retired lawyer & the scam definitely seems couched in terms which would net lawyers, consultants, accountants, etc., anyone who requires a retainer. Of course, since lawyers tend to be greedy, and have Hubris in spades (you know- "I checked it out thoroughly..."), I'm not surprised they have been targeted. Since this is an International Site, people in other countries should be made aware that a modern day American lawyer is not the "respected citizen" of a generation + ago. That all ended in the 1980's. Between the proliferation of 3rd & 4th rate law schools (I can think of at least 3-5 "unnecessary" law schools in Florida, alone- you know, we need a law school "for" hispanics, a law school "for" blacks, a law school "for" people with mucho dinero who could not get in any of the, e.g., top 100 law schools), and the sudden ability of lawyers to make huge amounts of money on "deals", the profession is not what, I understand, it once was.

The originating email address in this matter was [email protected]. I have not yet looked up whether "Meiah" has some meaning in a language? Important question: Do you think Google realizes its email addresses have become the new "Port Royal" for scamsters?? Should they not be told & the situation publicized?!?

The entire email:

Dear Sir,

I am Ms.Tin Kim, a Manager of Mei Ah Electrical & Industry, Hong Kong. We deal on Industrial Machinery/Electronics and we export our products to Canada/America and Europe.

We require your representation for our North American Customers. We are of the opinion that the ability to consolidate payments from North America will eradicate delays due to inter-continental monetary transaction between Asia and North America.

We want you to help us act as account receivables/payables with respect to our customers in Canada and the United States of America.. It has been very cumbersome collecting our payments from clients in this region. We had to personally come to Canada, to meet with these clients, and it has not been too easy, hence we are contacting you immediately. We understand that a proper Client Retainer will provide the necessary results and we are most inclined to commence talks as soon as possible.

Please contact using the email address above ([email protected]). Upon receipt of your response, we will provide you with more information. Include your Company name, full names, telephone and fax numbers in your response to this correspondence

Regards,

Ms. Tin Kim
