I would like to warn any females out there who are on the dating site Plenty of Fish. The man calls himself Timothy667 and his photo is not his. He will get your confidence, win your heart and then ask for money.
He goes by the name of Timothy Maclarean...he is a scammer. I hope nobody else has fallen for this evil man, or parted with any money. Luckily i didnt, and have reported him to POF. but he is still on the site for some reason! i also reported him to Essex Police....lets hope he is stopped. He is not in afghanistan nor is he a military policeman! he is from up north near yorkshire and has sky broadband....does he not know that i can trace his IP address!!

I'm sorry that POF has not been responsive. Unfortunately, it is not unusual for dating sites to be unresponsive.

As far as location goes, it's not quite as simple as the IP sometimes. It is possible that he is in UK (the scam itself is pretty typical African scam, but there are African scammers who are participating in scamming from other countries, too). It would be better, of course, if he actually is in UK, because there is a much better chance of him being arrested. Unfortunately, it is also possible that he is nowhere near UK, and is simply using a compromised server. It is not unusual for hackers or scammers to share (or sell) information to allow scammers to access servers that have been hacked/compromised.
