Meet my scam "Sgt Daniel Nappier"

Im so glad that I found this site....because Im also was scamed...and it nerly cost me $1500
Met the man who called himsels Daniel Nappier or Napier, a soldier in Afghanistan on the site Badoo. We started to talk and soon we went on the MSN, chatting. He told me that he had two kids back home in New York, his wife had been dead for the past 4 years and that he had been in the army for nearly 25 years. He got me hooked, and he made me fall for him, even then Im a very suspicus women...but didnt help me here. Soon he asked me to write for his leave...and I did. I sent the letter to [email protected] and soon got a answer from Comm David Petraeus there I was informed how I should do; Go to the Western Union office and pay this 1500 to a Karen Clark in England, after that give the MTCN to Daniel .....
I did pay the money...BUT I didnt give them the MTCN ...hope that saves my money!
Thanks to the lady in the WesternUnion office, she asked me a lot of questions, if I have search online to see IF they really existed and so on...
And I had search on Daniels namn, but only found him on Facebook, never on the others name, until today, thank god.....

I need help. I believe my sister in the beginning of this scam. She met a guy on facebook and has been chatting and emailing with him alot. He says he's deployed in Afghanistan and is in the u.s airforce. Last week he asked her to marry him and she said YES!!! Im sick to my stomach with concern because she's never met him and is totally emotionally involved. He hasnt asked her for anything yet. I dont know much because she won't tell me. How can i find out if this is legit? I only know his name and his facebook e-mail. I dont have any pictures because I am not a friend of his on f/b and cant access his page. I typed in the little bits of info that she did tell me and it led me here. They can't talk on the phone due to where he is, but she said she does message with his sister on facebook in the states, but this could set up as well right? I dont know what to do. I dont want her to get hurt. It's one thing to get scammed for money, but this could emotionally cripple her. She wont listen to me, I did send her some of the articles I found on-line regarding these scams, but she is so convinced that its real that she wont doubt him. What can be done to find out if he is for real??

This people that we are talking about, there are ..one of a kind...they are sweet talkers, they know witch button they will puch and they also know what we.the lonley women..are looking for...IM SO SORRY...IM just "waken" up from this...now Im must say..nightmare. My Daniel also want me for marrige..wihtin 5 days..knewledge of my NO INTRESTED of marrige. But they are so much sweet talkers and they always turn your knowledge the other way. Thank you so much. How do u find the IP address? where do you look on the email? can it be found through facebook e-mail addresses? I dont think she will do it though because, as I said, she is totally involved in this and doesnt want to believe that it could be fake. I asked her to do some research on this scam and she still wont cast doubt. Im sick to my stomach after reading all these stories and articles, and thinking about how hurt she will be if it turns out to be a scam. she keeps me at a distance and its frustrating.

I'm really sorry that your sister has gotten involved with a scammer. If she has been emailing with him, and will allow you to see the original mail, you can get the IP address by following the instructions in the link below. If you are able to post up any of the emails, we can probably find the exact same messages, sent to other women.

I really dont have access to th e-mails, I wish i did. I might be able to get some photos of him in uniform though. would that help? Ive seen here photos of the same guys attached to various names and profiles. Is it common for scammers to become friends with the victims friends on f/b and do they set up other f/b pages with other scammers (or on their own) to prove family and life stories? My sister says she chats with his sister, but I would imagine that if they set up a fake page for themselves, why not a bunch of them that they can control. This is very difficult to sort out.

You will notice the last Received line and the IP number beginning with 46. That shows the email was sent from the UK and not Afghanistan where the scammer claims to be.

Sorry to hear that ARITEL. Do any scam hits show if an internet search is done on the name or email address of the individual? What a pity you cannot post more details. There is a scam page on facebook too from what people tell me, anything mentioned there?
It sounds as if your sister is heading for a big fall when she finally realises I'm afraid. Please don't let the diastance grow between the 2 of you. She will be financially and emotionally hurt because scammers do not have a conscious at all. She is going to need help and support.
Maybe ask your sister to think of difficult questions to direct at the scammer. They do not like that. Scammers love it when victims just play along by following the script. Is there any way you could write to the scammer? Maybe write a short innocent letter to introduce yourself to the future brother-in-law? If it replies to you, check the email header? Would that be an idea?

The odds are overwhelmingly high that your sister is dealing with a scammer. The scenario you describe is textbook.

Real American soldiers who are on active duty in a war zone do NOT have hours of free time to chat online.
Falling in love immediately is standard scammer tactic. While there are certainly people who believe in "love at first sight," real people do NOT typically propose to people they have only met online. Scammers, on the other hand, routinely do this--and the "proposal" is usually setting the foundation for the inevitable bogus leave request.

If he is able to chat and email, chances are he would have phone access. Scammers often avoid phone because (a) phone credits cost money and (b) there is always a risk with phone calls, because the victim may recognize that the voice and accent do not match the caucasian American photos he is using--so the scammer wants to wait until he is sure the victim is so blinded by her feelings that she doesn't question it.

Absolutely. Scammers will often create one or more additional characters that can supposedly "verify" they
are who they claim to be. Those characters are typically fake family members or other fake soldiers. The scammer is often behind all of the email addresses and/or facebook pages.

If you are comfortable PM'ing or emailing the likely scammer's email address and a link to his facebook profile, we can help verify things in a couple of other ways too.

Thank you. I dont know how to do that though. His "name" is Nick Michaels. He is on facebook, his profile picture is of a man and woman hugging. It has text that reads "Nick & Crystal" and on the bottom "rejoice in the here and now" On his page is his facebook e-mail address. I hope you can help me figure this out.
