If you want the story from a textbook sucker read on...I have just been the victim of a scam. Being new to the internet dating site, i thought it was safe and monitored . I was so wrong, and naive. I am a very trusting and honest person and this has been my downfall. I went on match.com.and found a really nice profile of a widowed man, who had an 8yr old son. He went by the name Micheal john, and his e mail is [email protected]. I have been in communication with him for 1 month, using msn just about every evening, this i realized was him priming me, to gain trust, etc.He said he was a construction engineer manager from luton,uk. and was in Nigeria for a month. He spoke with an american accent, with a swedish sounding accent also, it was hard to pin point. He claimed to have been brought up by his Aunt in Sweden. He claims to have lost his wife and mother in a car accident on a trip to Paris. He sent romantic messages, roses, love cards, constantly. We skyped initially but he didn't have a camera, which I stupidly believed, then it gets worse. He was not familiar with skype, and his sound was not working, so he said. we continued on msn messenger. He was exceptionally loving and caring....silly me, or desperate me. It gets worse. After about 3 weeks he text me to say he had to go home as the nanny had told him that his son, Douglas had an accident. I called him later, where he told me he was at the hospital and that his son had fractured his scull, and needed an operation to stem the bleeding. Another phone call from me, to get an update, and he told me he was trying to gather the funds together for the surgery, as his insurance didn't cover it....alarm bell are screaming now, but i am deep in heart felt love. I send him 1,000 pounds.through western union. This is after sending his son a play station3,through fedex which was supposedly going to be paid back, and a very nice silver friendship bracelet for Micheal....spelt as 'eal' . As i say the internet is new to me, this virtual world i thought was going to be positive and rewarding has brought heartbreak and pain. I was so willing to open up my heart on this dating site, it has destroyed any trust and confidence i have conjured up to even go onto a dating site.... I am appauled that this person is still active on this site, as he is just changing his username on match.com, and I am sure there is more than him involved. I am sharing my experience, as it is important to expose these people.

The first thing you must realise is that there is nothing wrong with you.

The moral and legal right is with you and the scum who perpetrate this sort of crime are worthless and perverted individuals who possess no shame.

Your story is quite common - so you are not alone, I regret to say.

It would be wrong for you to become bitter, as there are many good people on the internet, but you need to become aware of the risks and dangers.

Whenever payment is requested by Western Union you're dealing with a scammer

Did he post pics to you of him and his son? I had a similar contact with two such people.
