Hi. This one is really quite tricky. Based in Nigeria he claims to be Robert Steve Troxell, a US military army man who on the face of it is actually quite distinguished in his field of employment. He uses a genuine photograph of Mr Troxell and close to Troxell's real email address. He has an associate Holly Carling in Houston Texas who collects money on behalf of him. Both are African and both are fakes. I feel empathy for the real Robert Steve Troxell. On this occasion the nigerian scammers hijacked a true identity.

Welcome to scamwarners!

Unfortunately, what you describe--scammers using photos, names, and location information of high-level US military personnel--has become much more common these days.

African romance scammers typically use scripted emails, and may use some of the same scripts under multiple names. Posting some of the early scripts can be very helpful to other potential victims.

It is not uncommon for scammers to have victims send money to mules in another country, including the US. Those mules may be fellow scammers, or they may be victims that have been lured by a fake job or even another romance scam.

Also, you should watch for Sgt Matthew Marcy Evans who has been in Afghanistan for almost 2 (!!!!!!) years already without a break as he apparently has to fulfill a contract first. He cannot see his family and is divorced and wants nothing more than offering you everything you can imagine in your life once he is out the army. He can only get out of the army if you send a mail to his staff srg by e-mail with the significant e -mail address [email protected] (aol for an authority INTERESTING!!!!) Once youhave got approval for his leave, yozu can buy him a ticket which costs around 2200 dollar.
Problem with this guy is: if you google his pseudonym, then you will find a Sgt Matthew Evans, so I believe that most people are tempted to send money to this Scammer with the terrible english (btw: his excuse for that is that he is from Texas!!!)
I have sent an E-mail to the US Army but guess it will get ignored anyhow but at least wanted to warn people that way. Army guys don't have to pay their flights home themselves!!!!!!!
