dating scam?

hi,

so i met this woman on ratemybody.com

she said she is an american who is in the army in Nigeria. and that she will be back the next week. I was suspicious, but I wanted to check it out.

i sent my pictures, but she never sent her's saying that she can't find her USB. i told her i will not talk to her if she does not send me pics, and she was like "baby its fine, if you don't believe me do not contact me". She gave me her number, but when i called this dude picked up and told me she was at work because she was in the army.

and well one day she picked up and she had a nigerian accent. i figured out she was a scammer. Well, she has my name, and my phone number. she know the city i live in. am i in any physical danger?

i thinks its been about 8 months since i last e-mailed her. After i stopped talking to her i got other dating scam mails, but i ignored them. now they stopped.

and two weeks ago i got a phone call, and they said hello and i don't think either one of us could hear. it was a male. i called back and it went to a voicemail "This magicjack customer is not currently available" it has a palo alto number. and then last week i got a missed call and i called back and it was the same voice mail. they never called me more than once a week.

i think that could be from nigeria cuz that guys accent was not american. so i don't know if i should be worried.

and one more thing.. i only talk to this woman for like a week or two. should i be scared?

i typed the number she gave me online. it was from like laobabes i think but there was nothing else that gave me a warning.

and the other thing i want to know is... if he calls me again this week.. and lets assume he is a scammer.. should i pick up the phone so i can at least know if he is a scammer? or do i ignore it?

It's highly unlikely that the original scammer would have any interest in doing anything to you. Scammers are only interested in one thing - money, if there isn't money in it for them then they won't do it.

As to the phonecalls you've been getting, it may be that your phone number has been sold on to another scammer. If all the calls are coming from the same number than it might be worth speaking to your phone provider and asking them if they can block the calls.
