Hi there,

I'm new to the board but been a frequent 'lurker' for a while now.

Thanks to your help in the past, I have managed to steer clear of quite a few scams! :)

Anyway, I listed a 'wanted for rental' advert on Gumtree (knowing that I would get some scam replies) even after clearly stating not to request any money up front etc from me. They just don't give up! So in my inbox this morning was a message from the above gentleman..along the usual lines of having a property to rent etc, bad broken English. So I thought I would play along with him for a while, it's raining out, I'm bored, it'll kill a few hours! Firstly I checked his IP address to see where the little devil was mailing me from, I haven't managed to ask him where he is from yet, but now I do know, I can play along with that too.

Firstly, he has sent photographs which are something out of Homes & Gardens, none of the windows match (some are Georgian, some UPC, some white, some brown), he has very kindly offered to throw in all the utility bills (I'm going to try and push for internet,Sky and maybe a gardener), he offered a price £150 per month more than I want to pay - so I have said not interested, too high, he has come back (very quickly) with asking me how much do I want to pay?? So I have asked for the postcode etc of the "property" so that I can determined a reasonable price.

I have reported his reply to Guntree, but I know this means nothing, the scammer will just get yet another email address and move onto the next unsuspecting person, however, I thought I would alert you to him just in case...

Watch this space....
