A Nigerian scammer using the name and email [email protected] attempted to scam me from Mingles, a dating site. He uses the alias LUVPIT on all of the dating sites he uses. I knew he was a Nigerian scammer as soon as we started chatting on Yahoo because his English, grammar, and syntax were horrendous, especially compared to his emails...which also showed signs of a scammer. It was obvious that most of the emails were templates with pitiful attempts by him to add text. I played along to gather evidence, and despite myself (I hate to admit) he had me going a little. It was actually fun to chat with him.
I got the feeling that he is either new to this or might even have a conscience because when ever he attempted to get money from me or get me to cash checks for him, he became sheepish and embarrased when confronted. Of course that could have been part of his script. His MO is typical of romance scammers listed here so I won't go into details.
The important things to know about him is that he has profiles on several dating sites. I've contacted most of them about him, but I don't know where that will go. The photo he uses is of an attractive man. He seems to target older women, widows and women otherwise alone. All of his profiles are basically the same. Once I watermark his photo I"ll post it. Suffice it to know now that women should beware of him.
He claims to live in Greenford, UK, a suburb outside of London. He has a British accent. He has phone numbers that appear to be from UK but are forwarded from Nigeria. He claims to be in marketing, own a gallery, be very religious, single with a fiance who was killed in a car accident, as were his parents, eight years ago. He is alone, and claims to be a very lonely man. He is charming and convincing, as are most of them.
He could not convince me to do anything he asked, and eventually I got tired of playing him and had enough information to track him. His email IP tracking number originated in Africa, as did his phone numbers; and the address he gave me does not exist.
