Jeanie perhaps education is the answer/Get him to check email headers. Also educate yourself too so you have all answers and can prove it all. One thing about it is for all the money sent he has got nothing back. Ask him what his sent money is spent on, and what is the result of doing it. Can you get some email addresses? If he wont try to memorise a few. Don't bait scammers this way. You need to know some safety rules and in SW we don't encourage it because most people who arrive here are victims. Scammers can turn nasty on victims and often know too much about them. Email addresses can be inundated with spam. Slanderous messages can arrive at work, deliveries arrive paid with stolen card information, etc . Victim probably can't cope with all of this. A lot of the regular posters here do bait scammers and have cast iron arses and protected identities ( except some of the regulars know who I am and I have met a few face to face ). We have years of experience as well (13 years in my case), and what seems so facile comes from that. It is best to stay away and get us the information and we can inflict damage to the scammer.. I live in the UK too and know the bill won't do anything, in West Midlands in the flooded village that made the news in the past few days which is enough to say here. If it wasn't so far away I could give him personal advice face to face, for nothing, but I don't want to travel hundreds of miles. I won't be back in the UK for a month or two since I am in Russia at the moment. You can PM me of course and see what is possible.

no education wont do..he"s been educated about the scam and he wont listen..he has been told byy the CID by friends,family....what i need to do is set something up to perrsuede him that this guy is a scammer...the scammers are basically mind controlling him and its so powerful he cant stop...he isnt working, yet he is giving the scammers almost every penny he has...i feel that if he sees something that states this person is a scammer then he may sit up and take notice..he has already sent the scammers about ££100,000 so he is a big fish to them and they wont let him go

getting the email headers wont work as he knows they are in nigeria..that is where he sends the money..he doesnt need confirmation of that as he is fully aware..and also they do not contact him by email..only yahoo instant messenger....my brother is very protective of the scammmers and wont reveal their details..he would rather screw over his own family than inflict damage on the scammers

Where does he go to send money? You could warn the WU office of this. I don't understand why he sends money to Nigerians and knows they are scammers. Lemming come to mind .

he always sent money to western union by phone with an account he has set up..but lately he has been going into the pay day/money loan shops to make his transactions
i had the mail redirecetd but he must be on to me and is covering his tracks by going into the money shops now...he isnt even working so he is sending them his benefit money...its uneleiveable ....he has been bankrupt oncce and has again entered into to an insolvancy arangement the reason he is doing this is because he channels all his money to nigeria...Ive spoken to WU abput the problem but they dont really care...they say that there are warnings about sending money to scammers and that he must know who the people are he is sending money to

I actually disagree that the scammers in control. Your brother is making a choice to believe what the scammers are saying, and ignore what you are saying.

The one exception is, if he is mentally ill and is not capable of comprehending what you are saying to him. In any case he is a victim.

I hope I am reading between the lines incorrectly. I know how small benefit money is (I live in UK) and how hard it is to live on it. Every penny counts in that situation as I am sure you know. I think he is also borrowing money from these loan shops/ see below. We have seen recent reports about the actions of these people offering payday loans. He must be living somewhere, and so if he is not providing his own place to live, he is sponging off family or someone. If it's family then you need to get very tough and put some terrible choices his way. In short -"pay your way-stop sending money to scammers"- or you are out. It is tough choices for you ,and ones he must be forced to take or his situation is going to be a lot worse. The end result is to stop this scam going on. I realise what a hard choice must be made, but he may descend to crime himself, and where is he getting money from? If he is lying to get loans it is fraud and misrepresentation, but you are in a better position to find out.
Not a great message from Began I am afraid but it needs to be said .

he lives with my elderly mother and i also beleive he has mental health issues..he is a prime target for the scammers..he has bankrupted himself once already and is well on the way to doing it again...i need to get something done otherwise i think the outcome will not be good..he is going to end up in prison in a mental institutuion or dead!!

I am really sorry about it. I don't know what to suggest. I don't know the medical route but I appreciate something is wrong. I would see some association with Hypermania, but not a doctor of course, and if so something can be done and he can be scheduled. It is curable, or rather remission can be introduced and possibly that is what is needed.

It is manic depression. It causes excitability, irrational behaviour, spending sprees, temper control problems, etc. It is entirely curable, but can reoccur. Thanks for your PM and you mentioned Eden College. Please refer to this post. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=21676&p=61837&hilit=eden+college#p62055.
As you can see it is another scammer at work and I am sure your brother knows this . Please post here what you know about this because I won't discuss your PM in detail openly.
