I inquired about an apartment in Brussels and received this message:

Hello Joyce ,

I am a young female professional and a student Jacinta by name and I have double nationality,Belgium citizen and a British citizen,i am a non smoker and i do not drink as well, I am social and outgoing but don't joke with my studies, but i don't mind having anybody in my room, but just that the person should at least have humor and respect peoples view, but that's is not a reason for me to choose a person who is a nice flatmate.

I lost my father after a long time illness with Anemia working with the french medical association and that's the most reflective thing in my hear and for my mother, she is laid back with my two brothers in London managing my fathers assets there and she is the one who receives the first month rent and deposit as well while i receive the subsequent ones.
Like i told you,i am a graduate in Medical sciences and a teacher as well in a school teaching Biological Sciences and currently pursuing my Masters degree in Human and Animal Biology and so i rarely have time for myself.I studied in university of London where i had my degree and was where my family based formerly before my father died so my mother and my kid brother has to be in London to look over and after my father's properties and assets in there and also for my brother to finish his college before he can come over to here.

My house is located at Address: Boulevard Saint-Michel 157 1040 Etterbeek, Belgium.

I have been living here in here for a very long time and in this flat since my youth days because it is here i started life as a youth after my Bachelors degree and now i have to continue my masters degree here.. It is a 3 bedroom flat and i live in 1 room and have 2 rooms for rent to interested people(s). We only have to share the living room space and the kitchen, but not either your room or toilet plus bath.

However, the rooms that are for rent has the following facilities,a small fridge apart from the big freezer in the kitchen,it is also furnished, have a big TV connected to a cable,a big double bed that sleeps two people conveniently, private bath and toilet, parking space, washer and drier, air condition in each room, gas system in the kitchen for heating and your cooking needs and also both wireless and LAN internet connection for use.... I have my personal laptop which we can always share in case you do not have any.

The rent per month is EUR 450 including the total utilities to be used as mentioned above making a monthly payment of EUR 450 You will also have to make a security deposit of Euro 650 which is a refundable fee at the end of your stay in my room to assure me that you shall keep my room safe even in my absence and if by the end of your lease nothing was destroyed as said either by you or your guest.

Immediately i confirm your interest,I shall send to you the current pictures of your room and my flat in general with the kitchen and other pictures as well before we proceed with the necessary details to prepare the tenement contract necessary for your move in.

Please tell me if you can abide to this, because i don't want to get along with UN serious people as we have been fooled and deceived by so many UN serious peoples in this medium,so i need serious people and hope you quite understand me and my worries.

Regards
.

I'm glad you quickly spotted this one!

I got as far as "Jacinta by name" before it was clear it was an African-based scam.

Could you please post the email address this scammer is using, and any other contact information (e.g. phone numbers) you were given? Headers for the email would be nice too so we can pinpoint the African country it's coming from.

We need the full email headers to locate the sender, and they aren't shown by default. If you can tell us who you use for email, we can tell you how to find them.

okok, I have been stringing this person along just to waste their time, and this is what has come of it. Finally today "she" sent me a "copy" of her UK ID card, if i could post it on here I would, but I don't see an option to post pics. It is very obviously photoshopped, but funny nonetheless.
Scroll down to the bottom of this and begin reading there, I didn't have time to flip everything around.
Someone asked for the header, and I really don't know how to get that on hotmail, if you know, then i will copy paste it.

Hello Jacinta,

I came by once this morning and you were not home. I appreciate the pictures but would like to meet you before I sign any legal documents. What is your nationality and original language? It would be nice if we could communicate in an easy way with your native language.

Thank you, xxx

Dear xxx ,

Thanks for you quickest mail, and i quite appreciate you candid and sincere interest in my room. The flat has 3 rooms am living in one bedroom while i am leasing out 2 for interested people who has satisfied my taste and have agreed to my terms and conditions as flat mates. I am so sorry i got your mail late i was out yesterday that was why i could not respond back on time hoe you check the out view of the house . i attach the pics for you .

The rent again per month is Euro 450 is to be paid just once which covers the whole of utilities you are to use in the room and a security deposit Euro 650,which is refundable at the end of your stay in the room.

The Euro 600 which Will be refunded to you,is for a security deposit, and it has to be refunded back at the end of your stay. The purpose of this money,is in case of damages and if you did not damage any thing in the room, you money will be refund in full to you at the end of your stay in the room.

Hence the total money you are to pay a first time rent Euro 1100 while Euro 650 could be refunded back at the end of your stay in the room if nothing was destroyed, and this is for one room.

There's no problem reserving the rooms for you ,provided you can comply with these procedures/terms of transaction and show some commitment by paying a deposit and first month rent which include utilities,so you don't need to pay any bills again.
I am sorry,i cannot afford to send to you the contract documents now because your move in and probably and estimated move out date, because it shall be included in the contract as its a seal binding you and me as room mate,so if after showing your full interest in my room, then we can continue with the contract.

1. I will send you the Tenement contract agreement which you need to read and understand and after which will then be signed to guarantee you that the rooms has been reserve for you.

2.The deposit and the first month rent has to be paid to my Mother through western union money transfer in United Kingdom ,because after the death of my father, all the rest of my father's assets are being handled by her and so she collect the monthly rents.

It takes 24hrs for the contract to be fully prepared by our family solicitor and to prepare the tenement contract,i shall need the following details:

1.Your full name,
2.Move in and out date.
3.current home address
4.A scanned copy of your passport is needed for verifications.

Let me know if this is okay by you because i have been deceived by UN serious people on this room issue and that is why OUR attorney advised my mum to request for the deposit and first month rent before concluding agreement with anybody.

The signed agreement form will be send to you first through attached mail for you to read and understand the terms and conditions applied, after which you will proceed with the payment,I'll now send you the original copies and other rental papers together with the receipt of payment through a registered courier. ( D H L,FEDEX or UPS) to your address for you to sign and bring along with you when moving in.

NB:It takes 2 working days for the original copies of the contract and receipt of payment to be delivered to your house address given after payment confirmation by my mother.

Please feel free to ask any question and i will be happy to respond back with the rightful answers .

Your quickest response shall be highly appreciated to determine your interest as a flat mate and facilitate the processing of the whole issue towards accepting you in my flat.

Regards

Thanks, sbja. :)
To answer your questions:
By default, Windows Live Hotmail shows only a few important headers, but you can make it display all header lines.
See Full Email Headers in Windows Live Hotmail
To see the full email including all header lines in Windows Live Hotmail:
• Click on the desired message in the list with the right mouse button.
• Select View source from the menu.

Then copy/paste the headers into your post.

um okay. but so far as i can tell this is just html and some script, no ip adresses.

What was posted here looks like garbled text rather than a header, to save confusion I have removed the irrelevant information - Ralph

To find headers in Hotmail, put your cursor on the received email - DO NOT OPEN THE EMAIL.

Right click & a drop down box appears.

Click on 'View Message Source' & the headers appear. :D

Please note IP = 41.155.83.91 = Nigeria.

Also in header by n13.bullet.mail.ac4.yahoo.com with NNFMP

IN SOME CASES Yahoo use a special protocol "NNFMP" to denote sender MAY be in a list of known scammers, or is using special software to hide their own IP address and details.

Note - it does not necessarily follow that if this protocol is not in a header - it should be assumed that the mail is NOT from a scammer.
