Car fraud scams via paypal. This one is new to me but I had to check it out when I was having a buyer from Missouri texting me and would not email or call me. I advertised a classic Mustang in the local Salt Lake Classifieds (online ads) and quickly got a text asking me more about it. After a day of playing around with only texts, he easily forked a promise to paypal me 7100$ yes its 7100$ with it spelled incorrectly. This morning I put the car on ebay and told him and he freaked out that I had to wait because he couldn't do a wire transfer due to his job and pay pal was the only way he could pay. So I googled car paypal scams and BAM! There it is, this site saying the same scam details. Now he wants to send 9000$ for the shipper and western union fees. don't know why he would include western union fees unless he wanted money back because a shipper is only about a grand $.

This site saved me from possibly getting scammed even though I had my suspicions.

Welcome to Scamwarners bruehlc.

You're correct - it's a scam and it's called 'the overpayment scam' and there's no reason why YOU should pay HIS shipper. If he can pay you, he can pay his shipper, but the scam doesn't work if he does that.

He sends you a spoof PayPal message and then he asks you to pay his fake shipper by Western Union or Moneygram.

Money for nothing.

Many fall for it - you didn't.

CAR ADVERTS - If a car seller mentions escrow - he's scamming you Never ever for any reason pay anything until you have seen and inspected the vehicle
