I responded to a posting on a flatshare website by sending an email to "[email protected]." "Adams Kelsie" responded to my email with prices for renting rooms in the apartment and attachments of photos of the alleged apartment. There were several things about this email that made me concerned:
-said he/she was British but could barely speak English
-clearly doesn't understand the concept of a first and last name
-wrote the wrong city name
-sent a google maps link and when I clicked it, Google sensed that the link originated in Nigeria
-prices proposed were low for area
-negotiation terms were too lenient ("you can move in whenever you want")
This is the original text of the first email:
I responded to the email asking some casual questions (can I schedule a visit with you, etc.) and "Adams Kelsie" responded with a poorly written story about being stuck in London with a sick family member, and proceeded to ask me to send loads of personal information. This is the text of the second email:
The scammer also included an attachment of a fake passport. I don't know if it's fake or if it's the real passport of a scammed victim but I'm not familiar with UK passports. (see attached photo)
I did some google research and this scammer is using many variants of the same email address ([email protected], [email protected], [email protected]) not only on flatshare sites for Prague but also for Paris.

Hello mate,
Yes the apartment as three room and one room for me and the two rooms for you and your friend and yes you can rents the one of 500 euro with all the bills and your friend can rents the other for 550 euro with all the bills.I am only looking for someone who is tidy and clean so as to be able to maintain my apartment. I am currently in the United Kingdom (London), but not deprive me to leave my house for you. I came here to take care of my sick mother.More then, I've taken all the necessary arrangements for the documents and for anybody that needs the room and the keys to the apartment with Service of my lawyer and DHL.The courier DHL have the apartment ready to move in and once I confirm the payment from you and lease is signed, then I'll send you the DHL tracking number and flat keys are delivered to your door step.If you want to continue,I will have want you or give you the details for theviewing but my experience with the viewer will not allow me to do that cause most of them normally turn to be a time waster if i should come all the way from London to Prague for the viewing but i believe we can still arrive at exactly what you wanted. you can 't send the following details if you want to proceed. The processes are not much, you only need to sign a Lease document which I will scan and send to you via e-mail,then you need to have some documents to yourself as proof of assurance. After which we will proceed to the payment level for you to make the deposit payment plus the month rent. You will have a reference number to use to collect the key at DH L Prague,or if you want i can send it to your present contact address i think that will be a Good idea.I will need the below details from you for the contract form.
Your full name,
Your address,
passport number,
occupation
move in date,
Telephone number,
How many of the occupier,
Once I have all that my lawyer will prepare a model contract for you and you can complete and sign, then the payment can be done and you may have the tracking number from the DHL to pick up the key.I also attached for you my international passport.I will be expecting your reply back with your details for the contract form today.
