First of all I would like to take a second to say HUGE heart felt thank you to this site and those of you on it, as without you I would not have known that I was being screwed over.

God fearing person who can take very good care of the house in our absence...we are not after the Money for the rent but want it to be clean all the time and the person that will rent it to take it as if it were its own.we have been trying to look for a Realtor that we can give the keys and documents,even showing the house to interested tenant before we left but could not find anyone we could trust,and we as well do not want our house to be used any how in our absence that is why we took it along with us.I hope you will promise me to take very good care of the House..I am a man of God and i stick to my words and i am God fearing and my life has been devoted to the Almighty Lord....So the House is very big and nice and it is in a nice area I have received many proposals today for my property. I ended up paying the first months rent and the deposit with the agreement that once that was paid I would be sent the keys to the house. While I never got to see inside the house I did drive by it, but did not go up to the house. Once the rent and deposit was paid (through Western Union transactions and through a money gram to 5 different people - yes, yes, I know, not brilliant on my part at all and believe me I'm doing a good job of kicking myself over this), I began to ask that the keys be sent out. I was then told by "Leanna" that they had contacted their lawyer and that in order for me to receive the keys I would have to send the second months rent as well. I informed that this was not part of the agreement nor was it standard practice in Landlord/Tenant agreement. They then asked if I would be able to loan then $200.00 (as if take it off what I would owe for the next months rent) as they had used all the money for medical bills. I told them that I would not be sending any more money until the keys were in my possession. I received no response back. I then informed them that if the keys could or would not be sent, that I wanted my money refunded and that we would conclude any Landlord/Tenant relationship. I have not heard back from them. I have gone ahead and contacted the local police department that looks after fraud and left a message. I have no illusions that I ever will see my money back, but I have learned a very good lesson.

I really hope people see this and learn from mistake!

Thanks for posting! The writing indicates that the scammer is in West Africa, so although it's good to let the local police know that there's a crime going on, they can't do anything about it.
