More military romance scams

The first scammer went under the name of Kelvin King ... that page has now been removed. I've now had a friend request from a Kelvin Walt. Now, Kelvin Walters is already known as a scam name, so they're not being innovative.

They are posing as US army personnel, from Hughes Springs, Texas.

I foolishly corresponded with "Kelvin King", who first claimed he was a peacekeeper in Kabul, then suddenly emerged in Africa, and then asked for money to pay a bill. After first asking to marry me, which was a little startling.

These are obviously false accounts, so be aware. Us girls do like a military man, but these Kelvins are just fraudsters.

It is a scam. The satellite company is fake. The soldier is also fake. The real person you are in contact with is most likely a West African scammer. The scammer is pretending to be the Satellite company also.

Soldiers do not need people to pay for phone, internet, leave or anything else. No one but the soldier himself will ever speak with his chain of command or the Military on his behalf. This includes wives, children, parents and internet girlfriends.

Thankyou dg for posting your story because others are less likely to caught in future. That is the problem as many people are unfamiliar with how the military works. That is how scammers catch so many people. As stated previously, no-one and absolutely no-one applies or pays for military personell to have leave. It simply does not happen that way.

Had a major sob story about ex-wife and daughter. I did correspond with for about a week. Then it came to getting his leave from Kabul. However, surprise! He had to pay for the trip home, and didn't have access to his funds. He's willing to pay double for the amount he's borrowed from whom, I've no idea. No, I have not sent him anything.

Just would like to have a way to report these people who are using military names and pictures.

This individual has yahoo messenger and is on http://www.DateHookup.com, just wanted to let everyone know and warn the ladys. I will be informing Date Hookup of this person trying to impersonate a military person.
I have chatted with him on yahoo messenger in hopes of getting more information out of him and will continue until I figure out his real location and turn him in to proper authorities.

We do not recommend continuing contact with a scammer that you have met under an account that is connected to your real identity. While you are not at any physical risk, you do not need the headache of a scammer trying for petty revenge, especially when there is nothing to be gained by continuing.

The writing tells us the scammer is African. Bryon has already mentioned he is in Nigeria. Whenever you encounter an African romance scammer, odds are very high that he is located in western Africa (Nigeria or Ghana most likely) or Malaysia (where there is a large cell of Nigerian romance scammers.) Tracking him to one of these locations will serve no real purpose, as the authorities will not pursue an international investigation into a would-be scammer who hasn't even gotten any money (In general any loss under 100K is unlikely to trigger an investigation, and over 100K might or might not result in one.) International investigations are expensive, time consuming, and full of political red tape, and the resources just aren't available to pursue investigations unless a very large sum of money is involved.

WOW, that same individual also contacted me and gave me the same sobbing story about his ex wife and daughter. Suddenly after a few days of chatting he is madly in love with me...that I'm the love of his lie. (LOL)... that he has NO access to his funds , wants to see me but has no access to his money to pay for the leave... First of all I have family in the military and I know protocols...leaves are free and military has access o their money. I'm trying to get Yahoo to cancel his account. Ladies be careful.

Please do not get Yahoo to cancel his account. If you do, he'll just make up another free email address, and other potential victims will not find out that he's a scammer if they search his new email address.
