hello.

i just got an email too from Travis Bacon1 wanting more detail about buying my car. at first i thought great - some interest - but then when he mentioned paypal for payment and not worrying about seeing the car = got suspicious.

this is the email i received below - not before i got a text first from +61428465117

there is no mention of paying more fees to cover the pick up agent - but im sure if i reply then i will see that in the reply.

STAY AWAY - if its too good to be true - then it is!!!

Hi,

Thank you for the mail,i am okay with the little details have read in the advert compare to the others have seen recently and please Does it have any more history I should be aware of and why are you selling if you don't mind my asking.I work with New Zealand Oil and Gas (NZOG) and we are presently offshore in New Zealand Taranaki Basin on kapo project. We do not have access to phone at the moment, its 20days off and 11days on,which is why I contacted you with internet messaging facility.

I am buying this for my first son who just graduated ontop of his class at Charles Darwin University in NT ,He studied Building Design & Architecture. I want it to be the perfect graduation gift and a surprise package for him .Where is it located at the moment and I will really appreciate if you can email more info.

In regards to payment ,all i will need is your bank details or pay pal payment email and name to set up purchase,as i don't have access to my bank account online as am not with my credit card details here on our mine site but i have my ANZ bank account linked up with my PayPal account so I will be paying you through PayPal to your nominated bank account .Have been introduce to a reputable shipping company that will handle the delivery after the payment clears to your account.I will really appreciate if you can email more info..

Regards,
Travis.

It's a scam, the writing is West African, and we've seen that phrase before. The scammer may have made up what he's working on, as when I Google it I come up with nothing but copies of this scam.

I received a very similar email from [email protected] regarding the purchase of my car too. He sent me the below, and after a few back & forths he has asked me to make a Western Union bank transfer for him to the sum of $1350 for "freighting". As he has never actually seen my car it does seem a little too good to be true so I got a little suspicious. Ol' Trav up to his old tricks again. (I'm currently waiting on a reply from him letting me know he's transferred the payment...and then I found this forum.)

I have had the same loser contact me through bikechange under the name Anthony Abbott with the following message

Ok mate, I am happy with the bike present condition and ok with the asking price of $4,500. I'm located in Palmerston NT and that's where the bike is going. Also, my pickup agent will come for pickup of the bike after funds has cleared to your account. Do get back to me with your bank details or your PayPal email address and the address for the bike to be picked after payment has been made and cleared to your account. Thanks

Once I advised him I lived in Darwin and he could view the bike he didn't respond

The name should have been an indication Tony Abbott

There never is any payment transferred. ALWAYS LOGIN to Paypal (or wherever payment site) directly and find out. In the rare instances paypal holds your money they still show it to you
