Received a dozen emails with the same script on Kijiji, then the email below. Pretty amateurish.

From: [email protected]

I'm satisfied with this particular Item and i'm really interested in buying it. I would have love to come for the viewing by the weekend, but My place is way too far we just moved to Halifax.. So i thought to use a courier company to pick up the item from your place but we will send the money to your account first and after you get the money in your account. The agent will be coming for the pick up.So I will forward it to the shipping company to calculate the cost of pick up for me. I'll be waiting for the address where the item is, so i can send it to my shipping / pick up company for the calculation of there fees and i'm sure they will get back to me soon.So about the payment i will like the payment to be made via PayPal online secure payment .. Please get back to me with this Information as well.
1.The lowest you can go for the price.
2.Your PayPal Full Name.
3.Your Paypal E-mail address.
4.Your phone number.

Best Regards

Typical scam script, and she's obviously not in Halifax, whichever Halifax she means, as there is no Halifax in West Africa.

I put 2 ads on kijiji yesterday and i received sms from 514-416-8266: it was asking me if it was still avalaible and if i could forward the pics. I was in bus and i tought it was strange but i answered anyways, there are so many people retarded on this website :z
then after it was asking me why i would sell my items, what was the condition and where i live.

google brought me here.

avoid this waste of time.

Hi,

I got a response from ad I posted on kijiji from a text message from a 909 area code stating:

"Sunburst Mirror still available for sale? Email me only at [email protected] to have deal. Please don't reply text due to the nature of my job. thanks, Felicia"

When I responded via email, this is what I got:
"I appreciate your prompt response, I am buying It ASAP for my cousin residing in Ontario as a surprise. I wont be available by myself for inspection due to the nature of my work and present location. I will like you to email me with some close up shots of it and will arrange for it to be picked up by a pick up agent who will be coming for the inspection and pick up at your place once the payment clears, I will also be paying you through Paypal which i believe is safe and secured for both of us and I will also be responsible for the charges. All I need from you now is to get back to me with your Paypal email and name or send me Paypal invoice so that I can send your payment ASAP. What
is your final asking price?
Just want to be sure about the sale before i proceed and If you need to reach me, send me an email as i Squeeze time every four-hours to check correspondence and respond at the same time.
Thanks."

It's definitely very similar to other emails posted here. Thank you for sharing. May I know how they scam sellers via PayPal?

Welcome to Scamwarners Mike610,
Thanks for posting the information on this scam. They will send you a spoofed email trying to make you believe the email came from PayPal and then will make some bogus claim about the money not being released by PayPal.

If you have any additional questions please ask.

It is ALWAYS a scam
If the pet seller or shipper asks for money to be sent via Western Union, Money Gram, any brand of gift card. Walmart To Walmart , Zelle , PayPal friends and family option, or mentions Cameroon

Welcome to Scamwarners Mike610,

The scammer wanted to send you a fake Paypal payment. He has a fake Paypal address from a free email provider. The payment would look real. Its a screen shot of a fake payment. Depending on what you were selling he would either try to steal your money or property. If it was a vehicle or large item, he would pretend to make an overpayment. He then will instruct you to pay a mover, shipper or agent. The fake Paypal email from the scammer would say that your Paypal funds will be released when you send the scammer (mover, agent or shipper) money via Western Union or Money Gram. In reality Paypal would never hold your funds.

Log into Paypal directly without any links to check for monies received or call Paypal directly from the number on their site.

If you are selling electronics, Cell phones or computers then the scammer is trying to steal your "item". Your fake funds will be released when you send the scammer a scan copy of a receipt showing you mailed your item.

This same scam works with fake check and money orders. You and your bank will think they are real. After you cash the fake check. Days or weeks later your bank will inform you of the fraud. Your bank will have you repay the monies. Possibly close your account for fraud and report you to Law Enforcement.

The best thing to do is to sell in person face to face in a public place.

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.

Please do not tell the scammer he is posted here.
