I would like to report other scammers. I've received MANY rental scams

I am sure you're looking for a room to rent, I got your ad from share accommodation and here are details of my apartment, it is located at 114/107 Quay street, Haymarket Nsw 2000 Sydney my apartment is high on Level 5, opposite Central Station, near Universities, the CBD, Chinatown and Darling harbor. Spacious & quiet 3 bedroom apartment fully furnished available for rent with a very convenient atmosphere, but I live in one of the rooms but I have two rooms available to lease out.

My apartment has been recently refurbished by my sick Dad to a very high standard of interior design.. The property briefly comprises the following: Open living area, spacious bedroom with balcony, tiled & air-conditioned, modern kitchen, bathroom and a second balcony off the living area with Slide robes utility cupboard (separate washer & dryer), Microwave, spacious living and dining room, kitchen with up to the minute appliances including a Phone jack, TV,Cable jack, Closet, Internet access(wireless), parking space with free access to the city center.

That's all I could say for now until you have a taste of my place. I'm looking to rent out my place to a neat, honest and responsible person to share my available rooms with.

I have successfully attached some picture of my apartment for you to imagine what I am talking about.

The rent is ($540/Month per room) Bills and utilities included , Bond: $400 (The Bond is a refundable security deposit). the rooms are still available or if you want me to reserve the room for you let me know asap..

Thanks for the reply, Sorry I have been busy taking care of my Dad whom had been sick for days now. Presently I am in London (U.K) to visit my sick Dad.. This is one of the reason I want to lease my apartment out, I want a clean and honest person to help me take good care of my apartment, But just 2 rooms available because I live in the third room and I would be coming down to Australia as soon as my Dad is back on his feet . Am originally From Australia.. I will make available scan copy of my passport and my certificate of ownership as soon as you're willing to rent my place.

If you're truly interested to rent a room in my apartment , It's sad that I just got here and I never bothered to buy a phone, I would have love to talk to you in person, but I'm trusting you with your words via email. All you need to do is to proceed with the necessary procedure. I will ask my solicitor(Michael Blumberg) email you the lease document, as soon as you're done with all the necessary process with him. He will instruct me to send you my details and my reference number for you to pick up the keys at DHL where I deposited the keys for safety before I travel down to London. So you can pick them up and move in. During this process I will be willing to send my passport too and my certificate of ownership.

I'll instruct ask my solicitor to make available a Lease Agreement document for you to read them and sign at least. He would need these information below to prepare the lease document.

Sydney is filled with lots of visitor which makes it so difficult to get a space as hotel and hostels around cost too much....The level of crowd searching for an apartment has also made it so tedious to screen potential roommates so has to find the right one and also one with a positive energy...The location of the apartment attracts so many foreign visitors......In my previous email,i guessed i have told you all you need to hear about the apartment.


Stating the fact that you are not in Sydney presently, you can make reservation for this room and there would be a Tenancy document to that effect that you are the owner of the specified space....This involves the duties of my lawyer whom will prepare the Tenancy Agreement Contract between us...Everything we do will be backed and sealed by law so there would be no doubts

Let me know if you agree with the reservation idea and i will get back to you with details on the forms and process at which this will take place..i can attach a copy of my passport and certificate of ownership if you want to have a look

Some of the things I noticed about scammers:

- bad English/grammar
- they have an excuse about why you can't see the apartment
- they are currently in the UK for whatever reason
- they'll send you the keys via mail (eg. via DHL)
- they have a lawyer with whom you'll have to meet
- they are very nice
- they claim how responsible they are
- it's almost too good to be true
- they might even send you pictures of themselves, and of their ID (also fake!!)
- they tell you you can reserve the room
- they tell you they live in one of the rooms and want to rent out the others
- the security deposit is often very high
- you have to pay using western union
- etc etc

The pictures included didn't match, different date, different architecture. even the picture of the bathroom was different with the view of the sleeping room where you can see inside the bathroom.

For the flat in LONDON his mails are send from NIGERIA????? And His lawyer sent mail from seattle????

Notice the similarities to the mail you received ? The scammer has merely changed the location and amounts you have to pay.

It's also flagged up as a scam on gumtree from over a year ago

This scammer serves no useful function to planet Earth. Apologies if I sound cruel, but these vermin think they are clever when actually they are just plain pathetic.
