Hello! I just finished with my first scammer ever. I had a profile in one dating site here in Finland. I haven´t had profile for ages so I didn´t know about these international scammers and how wide this is spread. I´m a cautious person so this scammer didn´t got anything but some personal info (which makes me angry of course).

I wasn´t expecting a lot when I put up my profile. I´m a happy single and just wanted to test if there´s some
body who is even worth to write with. This scammer was interesting. I was curious why a person from US searches dating partner from Finland!

I decided to find out what and who he is. He was convincing but he seemed to fell for me too soon and that made me uncomfy.

That IP-address (bold letters) points to Nigeria. He sent me many emails during the month we exchanged emails and all of them points to Nigeria except the first which "came" from USA, North Dakota. Maybe he tried to convince me if I checked his IP.

Yeah... The much too familiar sob story about late wife and a son living with his mother.
He builded up his story quite slowly and with patience. Maybe it was because he noticed I didn´t fell for him.

I want to also let you know that I was born in Palermo, Italy but came back to United States with my parents at the age of 6. I left united State at the age of 16 to attend school in Hamburg Germany. I lived in Germany for 6 years before relocating to Robert Gordon University Aberdeen Scotland where I had my Masters. My long stay abroad makes people to say I have German accent.(funny).

I will be traveling to London this weekend, there is this job i started there sometime early this year, the company wants me back for the completion of the job so i have been working on the arrangements. He was first in States, then he travelled to Boston and from there he took a flight to London to finish a job. He was a geologist. He wanted to come to meet me from London but...what you´ve known....suddenly he got a contract from Benin, Africa and he had to go there straight away from London. And all the time the IP address pointed to Lagos, Nigeria.

Today i received an email which disorganized and left me thinking on how best to handle things, Its a good and bad news, good in the sense that i was awarded another contract and the bad is that i won't be coming immediately as earlier planned. There was this contract i bided for with the Government of Benin Republic in Africa long time ago, i have almost forgotten about it because it has taken so long without them getting back to me, only to receive an email and notification from them awarding me the contract.

Well, rejoice with me because i am happy with the contract, it's quite big and profitable, but what i need to do now is to purchase the equipments i will need to supply, ship them down to Africa, then i will fly in and sign the contract, then they will pay me mobilization fees and i will come to see you from there, this process will only take at most one week from the day i leave London , so it's not as if i will spend all the time, when i go back to states, i can then plan to return back there to execute the job.

Good a thing, i am almost rounding up with this job here, the inspection should be on Wednesday and then i will be paid if not the same day, then on Thursday,Initially i wanted us to talk about a favorable date to fly in this weekend before this development. Tomorrow, i will start making inquiries and market surveys for the equipments i need to buy so i can pay for them on Thursday as soon as i am paid, then hand over to the shipper for shipment immediately.

Please my dear, i hope you can understand the situations on ground. I felt very bad about this sudden development because i have already conditioned my mind towards coming to see you this weekend before this came up, at most i will be there for just one week or so and i will come to see you.I am missing you even more now knowing i won't see you by weekend, instead the upper weekend. Yup, He promised to come to meet me from Africa. I just thought ok, he can come if he want. But he was too syrupu for me and that kept me cautious.

Thanks for posting! His English is consistent throughout with that of a Nigerian. German accents and Nigerian accents sound very different.

There is a sizable group of American men who look for women in Russia or Estonia, so just being contacted in Finland by an American isn't a sign of scam. But claiming to have grown up in Europe or America while writing like a West African is a red flag.

To help prevent other people from becoming his victim, you can also post up the dating site and the name he was using there and some of the content of his profile.

I first came to Scamwarners and 419eater after an encounter with a dating scammer. I particularly hate this type of scammer, because they play with your emotions while trying to get your money.
