This is a standard scam; the check is fake. Do not tell the scammer he is a scammer. Do not respond in any way. Act to him as if you were dead. If you receive the check, do not attempt to cash or deposit it.

I received the exact same email. From the exact same person. Same exact email word for word. When you google the full site janssen pharmaceuticals the site is down. So obviously this person put a lot of work into what he/she is doing.

janssenpharmaceuticals.com has no IP address or mail server. Could you post the complete headers of the email you got so that we can see if he's receiving email somewhere else?

If you do not know how to view email headers, what email program are you using?

His is:
[email protected]
and then just sent individually to my e-mail. What he did was use the link for the Zip Recruiter. I received that check today. Nothing matches! The sender is different than the issuer of the check. It was Fed EX overnight. Totally makes no sense.

If you haven't opened the envelope, bring it unopened to the FedEx fraud department, along with printouts of the email. (The postal inspector is for mail sent through the post office.)

So is this legitimate or not?

I got a response back from the same person. And googled information before replying back and found this page.

So I just want to make sure it's all real before replying back.

I also had a similar scam come up this week- the content is the same and under Janssen Pharmaceuticals, but under a different name (Jeanine Boyle). I couldn't tell if this was real or not, but the communication was so odd and it seemed too good to be true so I stopped the process.

I stopped at Task A of the Pre-Training because I got confused and realized this was not real, but I did send the copy of the drivers license and proof of residency for "verification". They don't have any of my banking info or my SSN, but I'm still concerned that they have the little information they do. Thankfully, the drivers license they have expires in 2 weeks. Should I be concerned about identity theft at all?
