Company Representative scams, Payment Processing scams and other Employment scams.
by David Jansen Mon May 10, 2010 4:28 am
This is a scam, this Elm company doesn't exsist aswell as there is no website showing with the elm-job.com domain.
This line here:
Administer day-to-day financial responsibilities for clients
is an indication that you have to receive fake checks, cash them and send the money via western union or money gram to the scammer. The fake check will then be processed by the bank and bounce. You lost your money and could even get in trouble. Don't fall for these scams!

Yes, this is definitely a scam. 1,800 a month for 3-4 hours per day? And that is just for the 'trial month' (when they take all your money out of your accoung) Just out of curiousity, I replied to Laura Jenkins and asked her for the documents (which of course were not attached).

She wants to employ me? That's funny, since I have no experience or skills for this so-called 'job'. I am trained in other things.

Her reply: :

Dear ......,

I'm resending the attachment, it is in Word document if you will have
any difficulties opening this attachment let me know and I will resend it as text. Complete the attached agreement, and send it to us via email or by fax +1-949-271-5607. If you have any questions email us.

Thank You,
Laura Jenkins

The dead giveaway for me is that there is no company address like you would expect on a legitimate e-mail or on the 'contract'. She also asks you for your account number, bank details, SWIFT and IBAN number, presumably so that she can steal all your money out of your account. I guess its quite clever, they find your CV on jobs. com and address you by your real name (unlike most spammers). It reminds me of those scams from Nigeria who always want you to transfer money for a high percentage. It probably is from Nigeria (they know we are onto them so they pretend they are a UK company, ha haa)
Also, as already said, the company doesn't exist on the internet, no website etc. All companies must be registered for tax purposes.
Do not pass on your bank or other personal details.
by David Jansen Sun May 23, 2010 3:09 am
Welcome here jewelle29

This scammer could also be asking for your bank account to use you as a middle man, or mule. When victims of other scams are asked to pay for whatever fee they have to pay to a bank account, that account could be yours. Then the scammer notifies you that a business partner or a client will transfer money to your bank account, and you have to cash that amount and send it to the scammer via western union. The scammer can now pick up the money anonymously. This is to avoid being traced. But when a victim reports the scam to the LE, they will trace you via your bank account.
Thanks for your contribution.

Being a victim doesn't mean you stand alone. We're here to help you.

Wow, guys, i feel soo foolish for falling for this. I sent the 'agreement' with all of my details, address, bank, even my I-BAN code. However, immediately after, i felt that something wasn't right and found several posts about it being a scam. If anybody has done this, contact your bank IMMEDIATELY, explain the situation and change your account details. Unfortunately for me, my account is overdrawn and has debits coming out this week so i cannot change my details until the end of the week! I plan to take the emails from them, along with my reply's to the police should they attempt to access my account before then. I hope this helped. x

Hey there mummyt1986, welcome to scamwarners.

I'm happy you got suspicious and found out it's a scam before you lost any money. Well done!

You said you were going to take the mails to the police, in reality there is very little they can do but it certainly won't hurt and it will raise the issue hopefully.

Could you provide me the mails coming from elm-jobs.com, along with the headers? I don't need your mails, only theirs. If you are unsure on how to find headers, below is how to find them in the three biggest mail providers. If yours isn't in the list, tell me which you are using and I'll guide you.

I want the mails and headers so I can take down the fake site elm-jobs.com. I'll need those for proof :)
------

How to retrieve headers in hotmail/yahoo:

When looking in the inbox, right click the mail you want the headers of (Don't open the mail). One of the options that appears is 'View original' or 'Show source' or 'View full headers' (or something similar). Click that, and a popup will appear with the full headers. It's a bunch of letters and numbers which look weird, but they contain info that I need to get it closed.

How to retrieve headers in gmail:

When you opened the message, you will see a small downward facing triangle next to the 'reply' button. When clicking that some options will appear, and one of them will be 'View original' or 'Show source' or 'View full headers' (or something similar). Click it, and the headers will appear in a popup.

Copy the whole thing, and post it here/PM it to me/ mail it to me.

If you are posting it here, be sure to check the headers as your email adress will be visible. You can edit your adress like this: [email protected] ==> [email protected]

Hi Ella, welcome to Scamwarners

First things first, do not make any further contact with the scammers for any reason what so ever.

Now, I need to be sure, money was deposited into your bank account? if that is the case, do not remove the money from your account, it is certainly money that has been taken from teh bank account of another victim, this other victim may or may not be aware that money has been removed from their account at this stage, contact your bank and tell them that the money has been deposited by a compromised bank account and ask them to notify the owner of that account to alert them of the fraud.

The bank are unlikely to do any of this because as much as they like to think they do, they know very little about the fraud committed against their customers but it is worth trying and you will have a record of having told them, be sure to write down details of your conversation and the name of anybody you spoke to, if it helps, print this page to take with you.

Eventually, the person who really owns the money will realise the scam and the only reference they have will be where the money was sent to, in this case you and the transaction will be reversed leaving you in debt if you have removed any of the money.

It is also not a bad idea to mention this to your local police and keep a record of your report.

If the money was taken from your account, then report it to your bank immediately and ask that the transaction be reversed, again, keep records of any conversations you have.

I've also had the same, I've Forwarded it onto Totaljobs customer service, who, I hope are aware of the scam. I also suggested they carry some kind of warning on their site.

Thank you for posting, Trikken.

Even this short email screams scam, and it is most likely the same scammers, who haven't had a chance to get a new fake site established yet.
