^ I received that very same email, twice.

I got these emails from Kingross Build Solutions and saw that it was addressed to my real name, and sent by my real name. They got a hold of my email address, and since I have myself on my contact list, I got their email as well, presumably after they spammed my contact list. But there were no copies in my Sent file, so they must have sent out the emails and then deleted the copies from my Sent file, so as to not clue me in.

I also got his one, also with my email address and first and last name listed as the sender:

I think that they are improving their efforts. I recently received almost the same exact email from Claire, but the address was @hr-kingrossbuildsolutions.com. I actually submitted some information before I did more research. I found that while in the email she stated that the company was actually based in London, the servers that host that website are actually located in the Ukraine, and over 50% of the traffic on these servers is based in China. Europe and the US do not even appear in the top 5 countries (which makes up 99% of the traffic) for these servers. Also, she stated in a secondary email that they wanted to be able to do wire transfers. I immediately thought of the whole Nigerian thing. Also, the scary part is that the email came from a friend of mine. When I contacted my friend (who was aware that I am job hunting), they denied ever sending it before I even told them what I had found out.

The registrant is shown as Elena Bukina, Bella, and that name is associated with hundreds of malware, scam and spam sites.

I doubt that the person actually exists but is merely the 'show name' used by a group involved in every aspect of internet crime.

Just read about ELM scam too good to be true as I received a e mail from a Sandra Molins. There is another one going around that I received this morning from an Alan Wheeler of Woodnavi Ltd with an address in Greece. This too has all the hallmarks as a scam and should be avoided.

This scam is quite elaborate. Not only do they have the website set up but thinking that the website looked legit I contacted them and informed them of the email I had received and they responded by telling me to contact their hiring manager Clair Haynes which was the lady that was emailing me. They even called me for a "phone interview" and after the phone interview they sent me this email. Attached to this email was the "employee agreement" which of course asks for your bank account information.

Following today's Management Assessment and phone interview day held Wednesday 29th September 2010, I am pleased to inform you that you have been selected as our Service Manager.Your starting Salary would be $725.00 per week plus 8% as your commission from every transaction. Judging from your cv and experienceI am confident that you would achieve your incentives and bonuses. I am pleased to be the first to welcome you to Kingross Build SolutionsLtd. and to thank you for your time. My personal greetings! I'm sending you our Employment Agreement, please find it attached. Please fill it out, e-mail to us and we will provide you with our very 1st assignment. If I can provide any more information that would be of assistance to you, please don't hesitate to contact me. Again, thank you for your time.

Thank you,

Hey everyone
This scam is most definitely still alive and well. I received this email this morning from "Claire House", [email protected]

Hi,
We have reviewed your resume on Totaljobs and want to try you for the position of administrative assistant/sales support. You'll work at the convenience of your home, part-time.
ELM, a luxury goods corporation, presents the best off-season luxury finds from the most prestigious international designers and collectibles from the rarest collections at irresistible prices.
Candidates for the position should have excellent organizational skills in addition to the ability to successfully multi-task. Ideal candidates have a strong focus on daily operational excellence, and a personal style that builds trust, and inspires reliability. The applicant have to be motivated, practical, be able to study and adapt in short time.
Other responsibilities of the Administrative Assistant/Sales Support consist of, but are not limited to:
• Incorporating efficient priorities for the virtual office job
• Manage everyday financial responsibilities for customers
• Reporting online every day
• Preparing brief summary reports, and weekly financial reports
Wage part-time: 1,800GBP/month, plus expenses.
If you have any questions please contact us via email or via fax +1-949-271-5336.
Sincerely yours,
Laura Jenkins
ELM Team

I thought it seemed a bit too good to be true - £1,800 pcm for part time work?! - so I emailed back asking for more information. I received a reply from "Sandra Molins", [email protected], a very similar email, only this time there was a "trial period agreement" attached. This was very professional-sounding, and signed by "Joseph M Gabriel", but the moment that they asked for my bank details alarms started going off big time, and a quick internet search revealed this thread. They won't be hearing from me.
Just thought I'd post this.... these are desperate times, job market wise, and the over-generous salary might tempt people to reply. I'm going to let total jobs know as well (that seems to be where they have got my details).
Hope people read this before sending them any info...and let's hope the scumbags get caught.

Assuming you mean name/address/phone/etc, don't worry. The truth is, millions of people have that same info posted publicly anyway. They are not enough to cause you any real trouble.

You might get one or more fake checks or money orders since you have made it this far. Just tear them up, take them to the police, or simply write FAKE on them in large print so that it is clear nobody can try to use them. Then tell them that the bank or the police told you the checks were fake, and ignore them from there.

Occasionally a check scammer will harass or threaten a victim. The truth is, the scammer is nowhere near you and he is not coming near you. He is simply trying another tactic to see if he can get money from you. Ignore him and more on, and you will be fine.
