Cell phone buyer employment scam?

I knew the name on the check was fake as the check was written from a branch location in virginia that was closed about a year ago. It was a fake navy fed check.
2 i didnt know there were so many victims in the scam.
I know this may be a long shot. But is there any way to help the other victims other than turning the check and the package in?

By turning the check in you will notify people of the hacked accounts.
