Company Representative scams, Payment Processing scams and other Employment scams.

Created this account just to thank you guys. Like the post above says, it helps people a lot to have these sites reported as scams. It tipped me off that they wanted me to log in through Facebook, seemed suspicious, and I found this thread.

These scammers are getting better- you used to be able to tell scams by the extremely poor grammar and spelling errors. The email I received from [email protected] was well written and seemed like a legitimate reply to a job posting.

Welcome to ScamWarners bk710. Scammers do this because they want to get money for doing nothing except sending emails. They do not care about the plight of their victims, in fact, they find that the more desperate the person is, the more willingly they fall for the scam. All scammers care about is the money victims send them.

Part of their goal is to see how willing you are to follow their directions. A real company doesn't ask you to complete an "online IQ test", then report the results to them.

It is good that you recognized that there are problems with this "job". Thank you for posting this. If you have any more contact information please post it up for others to find.

and emailing, and a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
We will provide more particular details at the interview.
Compensation: Based on experience

I don't understand what's that [7] doing there....
The e-mail came from [email protected]

As I recently applied to a job where I was asked to do this IQ test and noted that I was about to be billed for almost $10 if I received 3 messages at my phone and stopped that just in time, I told this person Ashley if the result of one IQ test was enough for any job I should apply and she answered me:

Hello (Applicant),
I think you have done a mistake. Because if you take the I.Q. test properly then we will get your result automatically.IQ test is important. This is our office rule, after taking the IQ test we will get your result automatically. Then we send this result to our officer, after seeing your score we will contact you assp for the interview. There have been some concerns about the IQ portion of the application. There are no fees to be incurred; they are covered by us on the backend of the application. So please go to the link below and take IQ test:
http://tinyurl.com/Official-IQ-Quizz

Thank You
Ashley Richard
HR Department Manager
------
Please note that she insists me in taking the IQ test.

This site http://tinyurl.com/Official-IQ-Quizz , besides billing you for a score that you don't ever receive, redirects you into a Dating Site, obviously nothing serious as meant to be for a job.

For your beware, don't believe in any e-mail asking you to take this IQ test, neither coming from the domain dealzhut.net

I have also received several of these same emails, but now they've come up with something else. I tried to locate a website for Spetro.org but "shocker" it doesn't exist. Here's just one of this type I've received....

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for expressing your interest in the available position posted
on Craigslist.

This is a full time position requiring 40 hours per week with optional
benefits package or pay raise after 90 days. You may not be familiar
with all the requirements for this position, the first week is paid on
the job training in which you may learn new skills or refresh skills you
already have.

As of right now, this employer needs someone to fill this position
immediately - we would like you to come in to complete the hiring
process as soon as possible. When can you come in? Our offices are open
from 8AM to 6PM, Monday through Saturday. My name is Maria and I'll be
the one interviewing you for the position. The interview is more of a
requirement than anything else, I don't see any reason why you wouldn't
be hired for the position and I would like to interview you as soon as
possible. This position is scheduled to start next week.

For the first 90 days you will be considered a temporary employee and
paid by our company. After 90 days you will become a permanent employee
and paid directly by your employer using their payroll system. Our
company has thousands of temporary employees nationwide so our payroll
system is complex yet efficient. We suggest you register for a
re-loadable debit card using the link below. This card will arrive in
the mail before you receive your first payroll period. Our payroll
system deposits the earnings of the previous week for each temporary
employee on to their re-loadable card every Friday.

As of 6 months ago direct deposit or payroll checks are integrated in
to our standard payroll process but you will receive a pay-stub every
week. In the last few years we had too many employees complain about not
having a bank account or having issues cashing their checks, so we
decided to make a change and we've had a lot less problems with payroll
in the last 6 months.

Our company is not affiliated with the company that provides this
re-loadable card; it can be used just like a regular debit card that you
can fund at your convenience online or over the phone. You can withdraw
your money at any ATM without fees or pay bills online, it's basically
as good as cash. Think of it almost like a debit card that can't
overdraft like a bank account and charge you ridiculous fees.

The link provided is unique to you. Your phone number and social
security number are required, this part of our hiring process and works
as our citizenship verification to alert us if you're not eligible to
work in the United States. I will be calling you soon to schedule a time
for you to come in to our office, please complete your debit card
registration as soon as possible.
You'll need to bring your photo ID and your social security number to
the interview so you can complete employment application and hiring
packet.

Here is the link you will need to use for registration:
http://spetro.org/registration-for-card

It's recommended that you fund the card with at least $25 after
registration to make sure it's active. This is not required but it will
give you a opportunity to figure out how it works and make sure your pin
is set correctly, so you can withdraw your funds next week.

Sincerely,
Maria Allison

So, after a little research I found that the link given to apply for this card directs you to what "looks" like the actual website for the Visa Card, but it's not. So if you would fall for this, you'd have filled out the entire questionaire/application to the Visa...now they have ALL your personal info. I reported them on Craigslist, but they have so many job postings it would be entirely impossible to recognize them from other postings

Hey guys,
I just got a recent one when I applied to a job via Craigslist. The ad was advertising an office and mail room clerk for a company. I got a little suspicious because the reply was so quick and the email was so impersonal. I tracked the IP address and it said it was coming from the Silver Tower in Bangladesh, the 16th and 18th floors to be exact. Here's what the email said:

"Hi,

Thank you for responding to our company's recent job posting on craigslist.
We have reviewed over 15 applications and we have narrowed our selection down six. You are one of the six applicants. Now we have three positions available.
We will give more specific details at the interview.

Benefits Package: Medical, dental, vision, disability/life insurance, tuition reimbursement, flex medical spending plan, vacation/sick days.

The position will require you to work in a high financial environment so it's our corporate policy that we do a financial verification check on all employees to verify applicant registration info. Its corporate policy that we have applicants sent through our link so we are compliant with the U.S employment standards act. Please copy and paste this link into your browser and complete the free report now:
http://usaapplynow.com/creditreport/

Fill out the form and indicate that you want the free report. Print it out and bring a copy to the interview as we will need to have it on file. Since this is just a pre-screen formality your actual score will not affect your chances of being hired. Please take a few minutes to do this now.

Please complete this first step ASAP as we only have 48 hours to set up interviews. When you have completed the credit score reply to this email and we will set a time for an interview.
I look forward to meeting with you.

Sincerely,
Ashley Richard

I feel u guys! I have received 2 very similar emails as a response to jobs off craigslist...and I too, reported it to craigslist (as well as to the credit site they used)! I only reported the first, however! These guys are EVERYWHERE! :yikes: All these guys deserve a virtual "firing squad"! Hope technology can catch up with it someday!
Here are the highlights from the first (I took out a lot of text /spacing to shorten it):

Re: PT Front Desk Receptionist

Sarah Johnson [email protected]
"head of the human resource department for VMV Corporation And Technologies. I have looked over your resume and decided to have you shortlisted for the office admin position. I would like to schedule you for an interview sometime next Monday or Tuesday if possible as well as get you to complete the pre-interview requirements that all candidates must complete before I can pencil in an interview date."
"work in a high financial environment so it's our corporate policy that we do a financial verification" "verify applicant registration info." "corporate policy to have applicants sent through following link so we are compliant with the U.S employment standards act. http://www.vmvcorporation.com/Career . It will re-direct you to the report site. Fill out the form and indicate that you want the free report and say no to the platinum monitoring option if they ask you. PLEASE DO NOT email us your report. Instead print it out and bring a copy to the interview as we will need to have it on file. Since this is just a pre-screen formality your actual score will not affect your chances of being hired."
"please be sure to:
-Whether a morning interview 8am-11am would be a problem
-Active references that would be okay for us to contact
-The account reference number you received after you completed the credit report form
-Working number to call you and confirm your interview date"
"complete all the outlined steps"
"tour of our offices, discuss pay structure and go over job duties"
"If no longer looking for employment please respond with your name and 'not interested' in the subject field so I can better shuffle through all the mail I get and take you off the applicant list. "thank you for your interest in the position. I look forward to hearing back from you.

With anticipation,
Sarah Johnson"
And here are quotes from the second one (also shortened):
