I have actually filled out his application and given him some basic information of mine before i found this site. I'm wondering if he can use my information to cause any damage to me in the future and if there are any precautions i should take? :(

my frequent travels and tight schedules. It's a part-time, work from
home basis and the flexibility means that there will be busier weeks
than
others. So it's a little difficult judging the exact number of hours
you'll be doing per week. If you can manage your time properly, this
job may even give you some extra while you do something else on the
side. As I have said, I'd want us to get a head start with things as
soon as
possible. I do have a pile up of work and a number of unattended
chores which you can immediately assist me with. I hope we can meet up

your efficiency and diligence towards all this, also to work out your
time schedule and fit it to mine.

I really need to find the perfect person for this job and i am
confident you can take up the challenges. On the long run we should
have a relatively sound working relationship between us.I'm online

Hello!
Sorry you were targeted by this scammer. Glad you found the site before getting more involved. Scammers are really after you money not to steal your identity. They ask you for all the personnel information because that is what a real employer would do. It helps legitimize their scam. That being said I would still regularly check your credit report just to be on the safe side.

Hello, I am brand new to this site, but wanted to report an email I'd gotten, just to verify whether it is truly a Scam, so as not to move ahead with it.

I saw an ad on Craig'sList under the Transportation department, looking for a driver.
"Driver Wanted": the ad it still up...
http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/trp/2600912502.html

I then emailed him with my resume, and he got back to me, under the name of Justin Devon, email: [email protected]... which I've seen above in a previous scam entry... so I assume that pretty much guarantees that it's a Scam right?

It certainly sounds like an awesome deal, maybe too good to be true? He responded to my query with what sounded like a very realistic email. Then I followed up and now I get this message...

-----
Dear,

Thanks for your response and I am glad to read from you once again. On the first day, you are to pick us from the airport and drop us at the hotel. Our arrival date is now the 30th of September.I want you to know that We will be responsible for the car hire cost and the gas fee. All we will be needing you for is basically driving and that's all.

Also i would like to bring to your notice that We found a car we will be using. Its a Benz s550 ,so I will make arrangement with the head office of the car company and I will let you know before hand when it will be brought to your house. Also i am okay with your driving schedule .

Concerning the payment, I will make arrangement to send you the cashier's check. Once you receive the check, i want you to have the check cashed at the Bank, deduct the sum of $500 as payment for the first weekend*s service and have the remaining funds on the check sent via western union the car company so they can start the delivery of the vehicle (s550 Benz) to you address.

furthermore, I will be happy if you could get back to me with the following details of yours so that the cashiers check payment can be issued out to you right away and have it delivered to you this week.

To proceed ,email me the following:
************************************

Full name:
street Address:
city:
State:
postal code:
Cell and Home:
Acceptance of offer:

I will appreciate your quick response if you are satisfied with the offer and I will be willing to instruct my client to go ahead and issue out the cashiers check right away for the payment of the first week and the funds for the car hire company .I will appreciate quick response from you with your full details so as to mail out the check at once.

Regards
Justin Devon

SO, if this IS a Scam, what should I do now?? Thankfully, I haven't actually sent him all my information.... although technically, I did send him my Resume, which has my home address and cell phone on there.. Shoot. Anyways, how should I respond to him?? Any response would be much appreciated, thanks!
by Con Warner Wed Sep 21, 2011 5:30 pm
Your suspicions are right jgmythog7!

This is a classic example of a cheque scam. You are sent a fake cheque valued at more than the amount expected.
You are then asked to forward the difference to a courier or agent.

By the time the bank realises that the cheque is a fraud, you will have lost your money.
The bank will pursue you for the funds and their costs. You may also face prosecution for money laundering and possibly face the prospect of imprisonment! :(

Edit: Forgot to say that you should drop and ignore him. :)
