I saw a listing that looked kind of weird, but thought, "Why not?" and submitted my resume. I received this email, which sent up a couple of red flags, but man, I wanted something this great! This is from "Janine Rodriguez" from [email protected]. The Orlandojobs.com ad listed Essar.

I am a licensed private Investigative journalist and media Consultant with variety of work and responsibilities as I represent both law firms, corporate entities, insurance companies and private individual clients in carrying out investigations, research, write stories for national, regional and local press as well as news and political broadcast through associated media. My main duty is to cover effective news with proper evidences and send it to the news room where the news is being processed and broadcasted through news paper and electronic media.
My function, schedule are always extremely busy investigating stories, evidence by using the information I already have to try to extract more before presenting it for publication which is the main reason I travel very often going to one location or the other. Consequently, I need an energetic, dedicated Administrative Support assistant to handle part of my schedule when I'm not in town due to the nature of my frequent traveling, Every instruction will be given to you via email and phone, thereafter meet approximately every two or three week interval starting from the day you start the job.
Please kindly note that this position for highly motivated individual ready to join my team, the working hours are flexible scheduling at your discretion with remuneration salary of $26 per hour, benefits include are bonuses, health, dental insurance and Vacation. I Googled her, thinking I would find her byline somewhere: no dice. I looked her up on Linked In. Nope. Even so, I responded to all of her questions, expecting to go through some interviewing. This is the response I received:

I would have liked to meet with you before you resume this job offer but like i mentioned in my previous email, I am presently out of town at the moment with loads of assignment currently on hold to be taken care of, which means you might have to resume immediately thereafter we will set up a meeting when I return. I will provide you with a laptop, wireless Internet broadband connection as well as all other supplies needed to perform the tasks will be financed by me because I do not allow applicant/employee to spend any form of personal fund in respect of my job expenses out of personal pocket. However, I will provided you with fund to purchase the working materials/equipment required to perform my job. You will be given a start-on bonus as well for this job which will be included in the funds you will receive for the equipment.
Every instruction will be given to you on what to do with the equipment immediately you receive the fund and get the materials purchase.

Now, I was really wondering what was going on. I had been offered a job without an interview? I responded with that question and asked for a Skype interview. I shared my concerns with a friend who dug up a couple of similar stories. Without waiting for another reply, I told the scammer to shove it.
But man...I really want a job like that.
