The parent company of International Cruise Lines is a properly registered long standing UK company, though I would point out that it's nature of business is publishing and that it's not a large business. This doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with it, but don't allow ourself to believe it's a major corporation. It's far from that.

Also do not expect too much from them. They clearly state what their service is and you aren't guaranteed a job.

Our services include:

* Advice on how you begin your search for employment on board a cruise ship
* Providing you with a dedicated career advice line
* Advice and guidance with applications/cvs if requested
* Issuing you with our 264 page publication "The International Cruise Ship Career Guide" which contains the following information:

1. Job descriptions with approximate salaries
2. Information on passports, medical requirements, visas and other travel arrangements
3. Contact names and addresses of all major cruise companies
4. Contact names and addresses of agent and concessionaires used by the Cruise Companies worldwide
5. Complete lists of all Cruise ships by their age, their destinations and nationality of their crews
6. Ports of call

* Issuing you with our Newsletter which is published every three months containing the following information:

1. Current updates on new ships being launched
2. Changes to contact names and addresses
3. Lists of all vacancies available regularly researched by us

They're being quite honest about what they do, and if it's what you need that's fair enough, but they won't find you a job. They're helping you to find one, and that's all, and you have to pay a registration fee up front. There is nothing wrong with that but don't expect that you'll get a job by paying the fee. The fee is just for the information and guidance they provide.

I only mention this link because it shows that the fee in 2008 was just under £40, but it may be more now.

There is a note here with advice about paying fees to get cruise ship jobs under the heading "Legitimate Cruise Hiring Agencies VS Fake Cruise Hiring Agencies"

There is nothing to suggest that International Cruise Services is a scam, but it's up to you not to misunderstand what it is they offer. If the help and information they offer is useful to you then it could be worthwhile, but they aren't offering or promising you a job.

I hope that helps you kimpro.
