Yes, it is a scam.
The scammer will send you a fake check and have you deposit it. He then will instruct you to withdraw money and send it to him or a third person.
The fake check will not clear and you will have lost your own money.
Post the emails sent to you and email address. Remove your personal information from them prior to submitting.
