There is a genuine Edmiston Yacht Company, but the genuine company are not sending these emails; these emails are sent by scammers.

The scammers are giving the genuine company's website address, but please note that the real company's email addresses end with @edmiston.com (and with no words or abbreviations after that), unlike the email addresses that the scammers use.

Here are some of the scammers' fake Edmiston email addresses:

Capitan Susasi Malike,
==========================================

A questionnaire was enclosed in DOC format, asking questions about the applicant's family background, probably intended to act as a test of an applicants' English ability. The questionnaire is convincing-looking, but seems to talk about placements on land in the UK, nothing to do with sailing.

============================

A few hours later, the following email was received:

Dear <NAME> ,
We have received your signed appointment letter and it has been recorded to your application file number of 2011/UK/FEB/SEA/6311. So therefore to proceed further , attached to this mail is your Invitation Letter. We were at the Airport to make arrangement for the booking of your flight ticket, but they did not allow us because since you are from European Union..You will need to have an Insurance Document and you will also have to provide us with the nearest airport close to your location ,so therefore you are require to forward a copy of the invitation to the British Embassy for the processing of your Insurance Document. This is very important because without the document , they will not allow you to pass the boarder and gain entry to work and live in United Kingdom . Remember that we are offering you a contract of 2 years , so remember to inform of them as well. Follow our instruction carefully and we assure you that they will grand you Insurance Document.

below is the details of Immigration Office .

UNITED KINGDOM IMMIGRATION SERVICES
E-Mail: [email protected]

Kindly contact the above office via email ([email protected]) and let them know that you've been offered a job from Capt.susasi . explain to them ,that you are from EU and you need Insurance Document to U.K and make sure you do this as soon as you received this mail so that it will be done before end of this week in order for you to depart and arrive here as soon as you have the complete traveling document deliver to you

Update us with the process between you and the British Embassy so that we can also follow along as to the date your Insurance document will be ready and please don't forget to provide us with the nearest airport name close to your location.

Congratulations on your success

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the information about this scam. I received this generic email as well. I am curious, what's the actual point of sending these fake emails, what does this 'captain' actually get out of the victims? Can he really steal the money from your account? Is there anything else he may want?
by AlanJones Wed May 16, 2012 1:20 am
Hello Kafka and welcome to ScamWarners.

The scammer is after stealing your money by way of fees for visas and work permits. They will not touch your bank account, just get you to send fees by Western Union.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.
