I'm sorry to tell you but this is a scam. I work for the real Edmiston Company and the Edmiston Hotel does not exist. They are using our name, logo and address to deceive people looking for jobs. They will tell you that you have got the job and then ask you for money for a Visa. Please do not give them any money and report the job advert to the website you found it on. We are trying to close them down but the scam is originating in Nigeria and proving very hard to trace.

Many Thanks.

Hello Arry Nugroho.

I have to tell you that they are not real. This is a big scam and the criminals only want to steal your money.
As you can read above they have nothing to do with the real company which you can contact here
http://www.edmistoncompany.com/contact/index.htm?id=6
- the real company is selling yachts and is no hotel.
The phonenumber the scammers gave to you is a UK roaming number which can be redirected to anywhere in the world and is probably going to West Africa.
If you take a closer look at the email the scammer is using to contact you, you will see that it is a free email address. The real company would not use a free email address but they would use a @edmistoncompany.com email address.

Please stop all contact to the scammer, don't tell them that you found them on scamwarners and just stop answering their mails. They will leave you alone as soon as they have realized that you are not going to pay.

Always remember: never pay money via Western Union or Money Gram. Legitimate employers will never ask you to pay money in advance or to pay money to sign a contract.
If you are paying to a bank account the details of the account have to match the details of your business partner.
And there is no way of applying for a visa via email and with only scans of your passport. You will always have to go to the embassy to do so. If somebody tells you different he is a fraud.

If you have further questions we are here to assist you.

The phone number that you posted is a redirect number and has been used for scamming for a few years now: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 206AAcjJEp

Edmiston wish to raise awareness of a possible UK visa scam that was discovered recently. The group of scammers using a variety of apparent pseudonyms such as Morris Winter, Capt. Jones William and Capt. Pierre Elliot start with false job adverts in emails naming unsuspecting companies, "The Edmiston Hotel" amongst them.
Unfortunately it doesn’t just stop there. It has been reported to us that once they attract someone’s attention they even go as far as issuing bogus appointment letters. After that, they get down to what they are really after. Charging up to £900 for arranging a UK visa. For a job that doesn’t exist.
Any phone numbers given are premium rate UK numbers; expensive but very hard to trace and therefore quite commonly used by scammers.

Thank you very much Adgarharrison.
The warning on Edmiston's homepage is a great example how easy it is to make it harder for the scammer to fool victims.
Quite a few victims are going to check the homepage of the company and then such a warning can save them from falling for the fake job offer.

The number given makes it a scam. It is only scammers that use this type of phone numbers. It is a free phone number which anyone can rerount to another number.

However, Helen Halper, what makes you think the Scam is originating from Nigeria?

Welcome to Scamwarners, yommytec!
Nigeria is, unfortunately, where a huge percentage of scams originate. In this case, the real company that was being impersonated investigated the scam, and found that it was coming from Nigeria.

Well, I own up and admit my mistake. Only that so many people write "Nigeria Romance scam", "Nigeria Scam", "Nigeria 419 scam" and the likes whereas most of the scams are coming from other places.

Truly there are lots of scammers from this part of the world but not all Scams are coming from Nigeria. I used to be a scammer myself and have lots of friends who are none Nigerians who are into this. In those days, we use people's credit cards to make western union transfers and we have somewhat of a gang.

The guys who gets the victim - me and my late partner ( both of us Nigerians ).
The guys who fetch the credit cards from unsuspecting victims - An Egptian, A Parkistani and A Lebanese
The guys who fetch the credit owner's background details for WU questions - An American
The guys who calls western union - 4 of them from America ( 1 female who calls when we have female card details).

Like I said earlier, I agree the bulk of it is coming from here but people need to accept the fact that it is a global thing.

That is a valid point, yommytec, and one we try to make often. There are scammers all over the world. We do, however, see a higher percentage from certain areas on this forum, simply because we limit ourselves to specific types of scams.

Spammers also come from all areas of the world, even though we see a higher percentage from some areas. And we do ban spammers here. I have removed the spam links from your signature line, but if the links return, that will be your fate as well.

Mistake?... MISTAKE?... MISTAKE? I wouldn't call deceiving people to steal their money a mistake. I call it criminal. I am curious what made you stop scamming people of their earned money. Was it your conscience?
Did you return any money to the people you deceived and stole from?

I do not believe we claim that all scammers come from Nigeria. You seem to be defensive toward scamming. I don't believe you have the experience we have regarding scammers. We never claim that ALL scammers are from Nigeria or the surrounding areas. We do know that most of the scams and scammers we deal with come from West Africa. We also state that we don't try to deal with every type of scam which is on the internet here.

yommytec wrote: I used to be a scammer myself and have lots of friends who are none Nigerians who are into this. In those days, we use people's credit cards to make western union transfers and we have somewhat of a gang.
Sir, this leads me to believe you are still involved in scamming and scammers, which also leads me to believe you condone what they are doing.

It sounds like you were not a Romance scammer, but an outright thief, using stolen credit card information. It is all illegal activity. What you did was like robbing a bank, one credit card at a time.

Are your gang members still in the scam "business"?
Did your Egyptian friends obtain credit cards by force?
Is your background American still in the scam "business"?

Well, that isn't exactly what you said, and we have never said all scams come from your homeland.

I am hoping you will answer my questions by PM or here in the open.
