This is a standard scam. The scammer is using you to turn fake, altered, or stolen checks or money orders into cash for him.

In the most common variation, your "assignment" will be to evaluate a Western Union or Moneygram branch. The scammer will send you a check or money order, tell you to cash it and then evaluate the service by sending money to someone he specifies.

In a less common variant, the scammer will send you a check or money order, instruct you to cash it and purchase items like electronics, and have you send them to someone else, most likely overseas.

In both cases, the check or money order you receive will be fake, altered, or written on a phished/stolen account. It may be good enough to initially fool the bank, but eventually (days, weeks, or even months later) they will discover the fraud. At that point, the bank will take the money back from you, charge you additional fees and fines, and possibly call the police and have you prosecuted for fraud or money laundering.

Real mystery shopping jobs don't pay anywhere near $200 per assignment, by the way.
