Hi odelia!
The language certainly sounds like a scammer. Would you please post more information, like how you got in contact with this person and where they are claiming to be. If you were communicating by email please post a couple of emails with the headers. If you need to know how to do that : http://www.ip-adress.com/faq/view_email_header/

OK. I am not English native speaker so there may be some mistakes in my letter. I search au pair work in Germany.

My first letter was:

From: Me
To: [email protected]

Hallo Herr Giller!

I am XXX from Georgia. I am 24 years old guy. You added me in your favorits list at easyaupair.com. Do you want a male au pair? I would be very happy if you really choose me...

Many thanks,
XXX

Their answer was:

hallo dear XXX,
thanks for your maul. we take only female aupairs. but a friend of mine Britta take also male aupair. you can write her : [email protected]

After this I sent letter to Britta and her reply was:

Hallo dear XXX,

thanks for your mail and your interest. pls send us some nice photos of you.. you can start as soon as you like. you are aware that we are a pure womans household, can you handle this? i am single and live together with my 12 year old daughter

many kind regards

Britta

As I understand she suggests me sex? Or have I misunderstood?

It sounds like this scammer is trying to pull an au pair scam mixed with a potential romance scam. Are you able to post the headers?

by odelia Sat May 07, 2011 2:42 pm
Do you mean e-mail Subject in header? Unfortunately both of them replied on my own subject "Au Pair aus Georgien" They did not write their own subjects.

http://www.easyaupair.com/viewprofilefamily/29431/ his e-mail is "Helge-G. Bender" <[email protected]>
he gave me the second e-mail - "Brit-M. Sollerberg" <[email protected]> this one suggested me "bathing together" :D OK, I understand it is scam. Even if this is not a scam and she really offers sex, it is not OK for me. I want to work in Germany, not sex, especially with the member of guest family.

I want to thank this site. I always google work suggesting e-mails and almost every time I see these e-mails listed on this site and it's getting clear to me that these e-mails are scams and I do not reply them.

hallo to all,
i have been aupair with the giller family for more than a year. the family is very serious helpfull and i can only recomment to be in this family. i was treated very fair and learnt lot of the German language.I had enough free time and they helped me to get a place in university.I know two other aupairs who were in this family. they had the same experience.

its really unfair and an offence to call someone a scammer without any knowlege and make a judgement by 2 or 3 mails only. in case an applicant is not accepted he or she should better look at him-/herself.

Hello Carissa,

I am curious to know how your experience was with the family giller. Please respond to my PM or in this thread.

Real information regarding Au-Pair positions in Germany:
The Au-pair Society e.V. (established law) is the national federation for au-pair agencies, host families and Au-Pairs in Germany and has been established for over ten years.

Members of the organization have been in the business of placing and taking au-pairs for many years and are committed to highest quality standards. The member agencies of the Au-pair Society e.V. work together in a nationwide network and support each other in many different fields.

It is an accredited, non-profit organization, which aims at making the name of au-pairs a better one not only in Germany but in all countries in the European Union with the help and collaboration of partners from all over the world.

The organization deputizes the Federal Republic of Germany not only as a member of ECAPS, the European Committee for Au Pair Standards whose goal is to define and intromit European-wide quality standards for the au-pair programme, but also of the IAPA (International Au Pair Association). The chairwoman of the Au-pair Society e.V. was elected in 2010 to join the board of directors of the IAPA.

Furthermore, the board of the Au-pair Society e.V. took part in development of new quality standards for a RAL label initiated by the Federal Government and is also a supporting member of the RAL quality assurance association.

Due to the confusing opulence of national/ international agencies and Internet placements, the Au-pair Society e.V. offers orientation aid for host families, au-pairs and agencies alike, who can all benefit from Au-pair Society’s e.V. achievement in quality. the boy named odelia should consider that he publishes parts of private mails. his chances to get a job as aupair in Europe or USA are going towards zero. her are also host families who are reading this side and they are not used to old east european/sowiet union customs how to treat privacy. the more his problem is discussed the smaller his chances become. good luck

Hello Odelia,

Please ignore the above posters attempts at intimidation. I'm sure they won't be around long.

Glad to know this site has helped and glad to have you here.

Welcome Carrissa,

You appear to be confused. The original person did not post this because he was turned down for a job, as you suggested. He posted because he was concerned about the terms attached to the job.

not used to old east european/sowiet union customs how to treat privacy.

Are those customs coming from the same group that established the "recommendations" that au pairs perform sexual favors for their hosts? There is no privacy standard that would apply in this situation. If you are going to solicit sexual favors from a perfect stranger (with whom you had no prior relationship) by email, you have no expectation of privacy.

In fact, if you had done your research, you would know that this person wasn't even the first to post this info online--this particular solicitation was posted on an au pair forum over a year ago, by another au pair candidate who was uncomfortable with the solicitation! And the "host" publicly posts his intentions on at least one au pair site.

The original poster is looking for a position as an au pair. He receives a response that defines the role in a way he has never seen before, and seems inappropriate. Because the offer strikes him as "off" and he would like to understand what is going on, he comes to a site that deals with au pair scams regularly and asks about this offer. Any legitimate future employer reading this will have the sense to see this as what it is--a job applicant who had sense enough to do his research. And most employers would like to know that the au pair candidate they are considering has moral standards and common sense!

On the other hand, Carrissa, if you really did hold that position in the past, posting here is not exactly wise for your job prospects--most legitimate employers would think twice before hiring someone who not only accepts those standards, but feels the need to harass someone for posting a legitimate question.

As far as the original scam question goes--while it could be an advance fee situation, we have no evidence that this person is attempting to steal money in the form of advance fees. But, it has also become clear that the employer is trying to deceive au pair candidates by passing a bogus set of "recommendations" off as accepted standards for au pairs. The responsibilities in question are not promoted or even condoned by any legitimate agency or government, and performing some of those activities for pay may even be illegal in some countries under prostitution laws.
