Haptic Vision (collaborated on the award winning short film, "Victim") The working title of the project is "GREAT DAWN", and stars Olivia Barash ("Repo Man", "Fame", "Tuff Turf", "Little House on The Prairie"...) and R. Michael Gull ("The Beast", "Victim"), We are also in need of someone who can provide fake blood in great quatity. There is a series of murder scene in the film, featuring a few appearances by some recognizable faces in small roles. We will be shooting in the Milwaukee and Sheboygan areas, as well as a couple of locations in Northern Wisconsin. We're tentatively to begin production within any moment from now. Precise dates to be confirmed very soon. The shoot should last 5-6 weeks. This film has a respectable and will have distribution. We're looking for a solid crew to work this production and are currently accepting submissions from anyone serious about working on a film set. This will be a full time shoot for 5 weeks. Students or recent grads are welcome. In addition to the paid positions, some intern positions are also available.

Job Salary: Depending on your roll of specialization, Salary Ranging from 6500 GBP to 10,000 GBP or negotiable and We shall take care of your Transportation expenses, Accommodation, feeding and a month training on arrival.

I was going to give this the benifit of the doubt and say it was legit by the first email since im on a few film crew related sites that are legit.

so i sent my email, because I did find out the production company is legit. so then i get a email back after sending a resume, and well i notice a few issues later not off the bat because i didnt read much about the work visa, I would have contacted the proper people and not any email i got from the person anyways. But also noticed when it mentioned about reimbursing my travel. i'm sorry but if you are hiring me , you are paying my travel ticket off the bat.

well also what cought me as odd was he didnt ask to meet me. I mean hiring me off the spot like that isn't something that always happens. I did contact my people i had on as references, and they never got any calls from the person. So im like well this is obviously fake because HE would have checked up some refferences. Then im thinking well I did have my film reel, but then I was like still if you are offering me that kind of money for such a job, first I would be speaking with a director and producer and going over visions for a project, before money talks come into play much. then I was like well they are out of country, but then again im like you send me info on something thats says about a film thats being shot in the states so then im like thats not right.

also notice that the 2nd email is a 6 month contract, um thats awesome, but the first was for a film shoot for 5 weeks, granted as a PD I would work pre production as well. So im like ok 2-3 months then. then Im looking at the actors they claim for the film. i check imdb nothing on it (sure many times films dont go to imdb right away but still, it was fishy)

so i read the email again, because I was going to wait til next week anyways, because I always do extreme background checks on everyone even locals. and i see the email for the visa and name, and that name sounded so fake it had to be fake.

anyways before i did that i emailed the production studio, havent got a responce, granted its the weekend so thats understandable. this "jerry scott" replied to my original mail early SAT morning, im thinking ok thats kind of fast, first off you prob had more choices to think about anyways, wouldnt you take more time, and 2 saturday morning, get real who works weekends much in film even a producer will take some time off. the time schedule they have me sounded about right, since well i know uk works fewer hours, but for my position i wouldnt have a time scedule, i would be my own boss, i just have meetings with the head people and i control my own dept.


so this guy had everything against him in that 2nd email. and then the visa info and name made it so damn obvious.

ya that ukk email address i figured something was up with that as well. i would have went to uk immigration official website myself and looked around. anyways I do research on everyone even if they are local and seem official. i emailed the actually studio as well. hope they will post something on the website maybe.

It really seems retarded to do such a scam, because most people in the film industry will check offcial film production registries and such and check with various people they would know. that and id never pay for my own trip or visa or passport. they would have to pay for all , so that alone cought my attention, because If im going to travel no way am i going to pay for it at any rate. and alo of the wording in the email seemed rather generic like its used for various job emails they send out.
telling me of a timed work schedule, im sorry but as a PD you don't work hourly, you are just like the director and producers you work before production and til the end, its fulltime work. you are a boss and don't listen to anyone. you and the director are almost equal in ways you tell him whats he doign wrong , he tells you what he is looking for. except he gets paid more in most cases lol. so ya, at least the scammer could have at least tried to be more creative in the way they try to scam the film industry.

lmfao thats bullshit. production designer can be nice or a sloppy pissed off asshole and get the job, if hes good enough hes hired. and follow and abide by instruction by default, that defeats the purpose of a PD anyways.

I'm sure somebody with more time than I have right now can give you a more detailed answer but to put it in a nutshell;

They will send a cheque for your expenses and ask you to pay somebody money by Western Union, the person you are paying is actually them so therefore you have cashed their fake cheque for them.

There can be other variations, scammers are quite adaptable and if they can get you to send money without the cheque they would be only too happy to do that as well

Given this:

it's more likely to go the visa/travel route. You will be missing a key travel permit needed for this job, but Luis (scammer in disguise, and BTW consultant.com is a free email address through mail.com) will conveniently be able to provide it, but you will have to WU the fees to Luis in order to get this necessary permit. This is another thing they will reimburse you for after you get there...

Note that they could combine this with the fake check scam, and send you a fake check so you can pay expenses, including this fee. You will be told to deposit the check, take out your other expenses, and take out enough cash to head over to WU and send this fee to Mr. Luis. The fake will be good enough that the bank will issue the cash in the required 5 days, then they will come after you when they discover it was fake.

In the end, the result is always the same--when the dust settles, your money is in the scammer's hands and the scammer is untraceable.
