It's a scam.

I'll point out a couple of things (though they aren't all).
Please note that Instant Messaging is a cost and time effective method for indepth interviewing and requires an understanding of the users’ communication etiquette

This is a scammer's attempt to make an excuse for something that is NOT standard practice. Legitimate companies do not hold in-depth interviews via instant messenger. Someone can easily have a friend or relative go online to "interview" for them! Legitimate companies realize that this is one of many risks--and they aren't going to take them.

Legitimate employers actually want to see and speak to you. They also use company email addresses for company business, not yahoo emails.

You should be scared to cash it.

It's fraudulent, and cashing it canland you in a whole lot of trouble. Shred it, deface it, or turn it in to the police. Cut off all contact with the scammers. Don't answer their emails, phone calls, etc.

Do not withdraw any money for any reason from the day you deposited the fake check. Print out the emails with complete headers and show them to the fraud department of your bank. Also print out the transcripts of the chats.
