Universal Marketing and Training is legit!

They called from a 1-866 number - basically I need to know if they are a scam or not?

They called me to give me an opportunity to go to small businesses and to give them Universal Marketing and Trainings number so they could lower their credit card rates and processing fees with the Credit Card Machines.

This is all the information I have for them. I have to go to now; but later I will be calling to see if they are a scam!

Universal Marketing and Training
The Number is 1-866-352-4521
Customer Service : 1-866-610-9467
4397 W Bethany Home Rd
Glendale AZ 85301-5401

Ironically, their address is one of a UPS Store..why is this?
They even sent me a training packet with a video and such.

Thank you!!

This is a work at home company that has been in business for less than two months.

They use the UPS store because they do not have a physical business location of their own and are operating out of a mailbox.

They have an F rating from the BBB

Reason for Rating

BBB rating is based on 16 factors. Get the details about the factors considered.

Factors that lowered the rating for Universal Marketing & Training include:
BBB concerns with the industry in which this business operates
Length of time business has been operating

It is ALWAYS a scam

I received a call from them a few days ago, and it sounded great so I paid the $495. The man i spoke with said i'd be receiving my packet in the mail within 7-10 business days. Today I received a call from a partner company (can't recall their name at the moment) explaining how things really work. From what I've gathered, they buy leads (small business owner's information, it's targeted marketing) from big banks, that are qualified to receive a loan, but get denied due to the economy and banks not wanting to give out loans. From there, they contact those businesses within a week and offer to match the loan interest free. The "catch" for the business is, they also have to sign into a 5 year contract to use UMT (Universal Marketing + Training) to handle their credit card transactions. You also get 200-500$ per MONTH per business that signs up (averaging from the businesses credit card transactions per month), and a 3% return on the cash advances the business takes out. You also get $500 for each credit card terminal UMT replaces at the business' store once the business agrees. This all sounds great, however they want $10,000 from me to buy 1,000 leads. They stated that out of those 1k calls, approx 30 businesses will apply thru them for the loan they couldn't get from the bank, and out of those 30 businesses, UMT will have a 80% close rate (meaning 24). If you do the math with the numbers I was given (which the Agent said was on the low end of the deal, because she didn't want to promise me anything unrealistic) that would mean that I would need 10 of those businesses to at least borrow $50,000 (which she also stated was about the average loan they deal with) to make my money back off the cash advances alone. I'm not sure where I stand yet, the information I was given seems very legit, I just don't know if I want to part with 10 grand to find out if it's real. Judging from my research on the web so far, it seems no one except myself has even made it this far yet (or hasn't posted about it) so I would love to hear from someone who is beyond this point, to let me know if it's a scam or not.

Providing an update: I spoke with the same agent again today, regarding my last post, and this time I tried to pick her brain regarding more about the company. She said that she works for a partnering company that Universal Marketing and Training hired, called Network Market Solutions (UMS). She also provided a link to Arizona's Corporate Commission's website to prove they're a legit business. She said that fake businesses can't register on this site because it's illegal. The link is here, http://www.azsos.gov/scripts/TNT_Search ... E_CODE=NME

She said that UMS has been around for 4 years, but that the branch she works for has only been around since March. When I told her that I need more information besides this, she was polite and said that she would speak with her boss and contact me again when she had more information to make me feel comfortable. She apologizied that she wasn't prepared for all my questions. She said normally people don't ask these types of questions, and she was frustrated that she didn't have any information to give me. Overall I did feel kind of bad for playing the 20 questions game with her, but she seems determined to help which i'm not sure yet if it's a good or bad thing. Anyway, just trying to get more info on them for everyone, hope this helped.

I also paid the 495, but rep on the phone told me something similar, but the way he made it sound was that I was to go into non chain busineses that accept visa/mc and get the business card and then mail 5 different cards back to the company. Someone from the company called but saying they were going to get me in touch with a coach but so far that has not happened. I maybe out the 495, but we will see.

I have the same experience as DREWBIE and I was also offerred what they called a Scholaship Program which is buying a lead package described by Drewbie for the $10,000.

I said that my experience up to now was that I was shuffled from offer to offer as follows:

I paid $94 to be able to post links on the internet and make some money.
I paid another $94 to get more help.
I was then asked to pay $84 to be given 7 products that I can sell through the posted leads.\
I then started recieving 10's of calls from organizations claiming to teach me how to make a lot more money by setting up an internet AD Campaign instead of just posting links.
Then i got calls from people representing Visa Master Card to target Merchants to switch their point of sale terminal to a new Bank.
I paid $490 to get the marketing package and the teaching to be able to do that.
Before I got the marketing package I got this call saying I m,ight qulaify for this Scholarship Program which would give the the 'Privalage' to be 'chosen' to joing a Marketing Campaign by paying $10K on my Visa card.

This is when I asked for a halt and asked to be given the number of someone in Canada (That is where I am from) who has succeeded and is willing to share their success story.

Did anyone go further than this?

I will definitely continue my report as events develop.

Has anyone been offered a scholarship from Universal Marketing and Training scholarship program? I signed up with company, received a refund and now they are offering a scholarship if I sign up again. Do not have to pay again. :?:

I just recently got sucked into this thing. It started with Sherry Linney who is with a campany called Unlimited Training Services who took my $490. She hooled me with Dan King with Network Market Solutions as my "coach." The ugly part is that I was unemployed, looking for a way out of the traditional 9-5 job and hungry for my own business. You gussed it, I handed over $10k to buy 500 leads for a campaign that had a scholarship attached to it. Unversl Bank (ya right) was to reimberse the money to me since this was my first buy. A few days later, a guy by the name of John Ryan who also works for Network Market Solutions called and introduce himself as my campagin manager and gave me my agent ID number. We are supposed to get together again in two weeks to discuss the progress of my so called campaign. In the mean time another guy by the name of Jeff Jones who works for Universal Marketing and Training is acting as my "trainer", and Mathew Page who is their IT person set up a "back office" on their web site, universalmarketingandtraining.com. When I log in and enter my agent ID, I can access my accounts and see any activity. Of course it's empty. I was turned on to training videos from the web site that don't work and training from Toolmonk.com. I got this free. Lucky me. Business cards have in fact been mailed and the tracking info shows that I should geet them tomorrow. So far when I call I get an answer. When I leave a message I get a call back. I have to tell you that this is one of the dumbest things I have ever done! It's early for me at this stage of the game, but my gut tells me that absolutely no money is going to be made and they will eventually stop talking to me. Please help. What can I do???

Welcome to ScamWarners . I am sorry you got scammed. If you sent money by Western Union, the money is gone.

You can report the situation to your local police. Please post up the email addresses the scammers used. Also if they had a website, please post that so we can take a look at it.

Again, I am sorry you were taken like this.

Here are the three websites I am involved in right now:
http://www.unlimitedtrainingservices.com
http://networkmsgroup.com
http://www.universalmarketingandtraining.com

Again, I have received all the online training materials including a 30 page "how to" manual, multiple video instruction on how to advertise on Facebook, Google and through Email. Work books with tests, etc., and a back office client tracking tool. I have business fliers and cards from them also. This is the week Universal Marketing & Training said they would begin contacting my leads.

I have three Email address from two people:
Matthew Page, IT Department: [email protected]
Jeff Jones, Programs/Development: [email protected]
Jeff Jones: [email protected]

This is it in a nutshell. Right now things do not look like gloom and doom from what I have seen unless there is very big hammer getting ready to fall. Please pray for me.

Hello rollthedice , I am not certain what you are hoping we can do for you.

It appears you are wanting to know how to about "internet marketing". The sites you have listed were all started this year and only registered for a year. This is what scammers do, they register for only a year so that when the site is closed they don't lose much money.

If you are getting material from the sites, that is probably all that they do. Typically scammers do not have email address which match the domain names.

Did you seek these out or did they send you an email? If they sent you an email first please post up that email.
